Tein Flex z coilovers

I'm leaning towards getting a set, but I can't find any reviews on the Flex Z set up. Anyone running these for just a street set up, no track, nothing fancy? Pretty much just want to lower my ride a little. Does anyone know if any of the vendors here offer club members a discount? I can get a set just shy of 800.00 delivered. All comments welcome.

I have them. I think they are great for the money. I just street my car with the occasional mountain run. I would recommend them.

They are supposed to be a cheaper replacement for the Street Flex, I'm running the Street Flex with some Swift 8k/6k, the 10k/8k spring is a little harsh with bumps but the lower rate springs solved the problem.

Bumping an older thread instead of making my own.

Anyone else have experience with the flex Z’s?

I just bought a car with eibach springs and blown Tokicos, and initially thought I’d get Koni Yellows , but the flex Z’s are barely more money.

I just had these installed last month. Came from the Koni Yellow/Eibach Pro Spring combo actually. My originally plan was to get the same exact replacements because I wasn't a fan of coilovers, but after comparing the price of new struts and top hats, it came out more expensive than the Tein Flex Z which was recommended to me. These were 16-way adjustable which I didn't think I'd need all those adjustments and they came from the factory on the middle setting (8 clicks). After installation, I had it set to the softest setting which was 16 clicks from hard (front and rear) to see how it went because I wanted something soft for the streets of NYC and more of a cruising car. First impression was these coilovers were rocking the car like a boat, I actually felt car sick (as the driver in my own car!) from the bouncing, way too soft. I adjusted it back to 6 front and 8 rear (from hardest setting) which was recommended from the manual. Felt much better, I'd say a bit softer than my previous Koni yellow/Eibach pro spring combo. My final setting for the street was 9 front and 11 rear (from hardest setting) which was probably the softest that I can tolerate, went through bumps without any problem. It feels really good now, and I highly recommend this as an OEM alternative replacement. I will probably be autocrossing this car in the next month or so, that's when I'll actually test the hardness setting...

Interested to see how they feel at autocross. What class are you in? Competitive at all?

I was up in the air between these and Ohlins DFV. I know that's a crazy comparison, but I read good things about these Tein coilovers on the FR-S/86 and S2K forums. Ended up doing Ohlins because I sold my E28 and had plenty of cash... figured I'd need all the help I can get punching up to C5 vettes.

I'm not competitive in autocross and still consider myself a beginner, Class B. I went with Teins over the Ohlins because I think the Teins serve most of my needs. My instructor told me the really serious autocrossers spend big money on suspension such as the higher end Konis or Penske. Also, have you spoken to Jake Hamfist? I'm sure he has some good pointers on autocross.

I pretend I am competitive, but in reality I am just getting to be decent. Hm... FD should be in A class. Ridiculous when you consider a brand new Camaro SS 1LE is in B.

I am sure the Teins are good... even if they are just decent it's hard to argue with the price.

I have not spoken with him. Is he on the forum here? Hamfist Racing?

Yes the Teins are definitely good for the price. And also yes, Hamfist Racing.
