Scammer Alert ???
Today's chuckle
Your friend and mine tomn16 was accused of being a scammer?
A first time buyer requested a parts quote which I promptly submitted with my usual terms....Friends & family payment and All my parts may be returned if not satisfied...also suggested he check my iTrader rating in case he had concerns about buyer protection.
His reply:
"No thanks, sounds a little too scammy to me"
I guess there are a few folks who can't trust anyone.....our FORUM's iTrader rating is an excellent feature.

For what it's worth, I've bought parts from tomsn16 earlier this year. The parts shipped on time and arrived in good condition.
It's been years so I'm fuzzy on the details, but I know someone who sold a lot of parts on Paypal and he said business accounts sometimes get scammed by customers who receive the parts and then falsely claim there was damage or wrong parts received. It sounded like Paypal would usually side with the customer (not the business), and the business would basically be forced to refund even if the customer didn't send the same part back. There's no way to predict if someone is planning to try this scam on you, but if you're not hurting for customers I wouldn't worry about losing out one one person who prefers to be cautious.

Thanks for the reply scotty305
Be assured we are not worried about losing a sale.....the subject NO-TRUST member is on our "NO FLY LIST"= no parts for him.
Also, we have parted-out many FD's over the past 10 years with ZERO buyer , PayPal , or UPS delivery problems.
All our parts supply is done exclusively on this FORUM because 99.9% of the members are trustworthy and trusting and a pleasure to work with.

The crazy thing about this community evolution is the "new wave" brings with them new nonsense. The social media era of people are just different and don't understand what a forum is, how it works or how not "scammy" well established members are. I don't think they care to know either. This place is just a slower Facebook to them lol
your level of importance here surpasses that of the server this website is hosted on. If rx7club should dissolve, your contribution amd continued support would live on.

Probably the guy calling you scammy was a scammer hisself.
Further to Scotty's comment, I think the Friends and Family option eliminates the customer pulling a fast one on claiming?

FDAUTO....I also suspect that "scammy" did NOT BOTHER to check my iTrader rating....takes all of a few minutes to do.
Also, thanks for the kind words.
Redbul.....yea, "scammy" may be the scammer and F&F payments may well keep false claims at a minimum.....although a problem I have not encountered to date.

To be fair, friends and family PayPal is usually someone trying to scam. It’s usually an immediate disqualifier for me. That said, you are a trustworthy member and I would be comfortable buying from you using that method.

That's why we note our problem is not the fee but the 1099's PayPal issues for goods & services.
Also suggest our iTrader rating = buyer protection

That said, I've bought parts off Tom before without any issues and came to a solution that worked for both of us. Thanks again for working with me.
I've sold stuff on another forum where I'm well known asking the buyer to use the F&F designation. But that relies on trust and honesty, which, nowadays is certainly not a given. So it's buyer beware, and unless you absolutely trust the seller, as said above, I wouldn't use it.
I always air on the side of caution. On a social media platform like instagram and Facebook, unless I know you personally, I would not use PayPal F&F. I have been burned on more than one occasion for various reasons. Lucky, PayPal was a layer to stop that on top of a CC. Having said that, I’ve done thousand of dollars of PayPal F&F with Mr. Jim and would not hesitate to do so again. Everything comes extremely well packed, and as described. The new member could’ve simply done some research prior to calling the transaction “scammy” , or had a conversation that they were not comfortable with that since it was their first transaction, yet they chose not to do so. Those are the individuals you likely don’t want to do business with anyways. They probably did you a favor. The forum has had its share of scammers over the years but Mr. Jim is far from them.

I have personally met and bought items from Jim, he’s gone out of his way to help me when I really needed it. He’s as honest as the day is long.
He even contacted me weeks afterwards to see how my repairs were going.
Jim is definitely a credit to this community.

Ships super-fast, great prices on parts and follows though after the sell.

Many thanks for your input guys...DW , GW , OldDog and Estevan.
Looks like we all agree on "know who you are working with" before you buy and the Forum iTrader rating is a good info source.

I constantly suggest to the younger owners to sign up here but they always reply with how easy facebook is compared to an ancient forum

From: FL-->NJ/NYC again!

Believe it or not, I still sell parts (some of them pretty high dollar) via personal check sent snail mail. My wife is like..... "wait, this dude from across the country wants Fikse wheels so sent you this, and he's never even met you?"
One of the good things about being in the community for oh, like a quarter of a century

Not as active as I used to be but I knew I had bought from Jim previously (And Rich
) but didn’t see my name on the itrader list for Jim for positive feedback. Did I miss the input or how that feedback works? Glad both you guys help us all out still, thanks guys!

Jim, I feel the same frustration towards the 1099K but I've come to terms with it over the years because in a way, when I was parting FD's, I was running what could equate to a small business. I was buying inventory, reselling it for a profit, and using the financial gain to support my hobby and home projects. As I've been selling out my inventory I have increase prices enough to cover the tax implication of a sale or I offer folks the options to pay my full asking price for a goods and services payment or to pay a discounted price for a tax free payment method.
Newer folks to the community (mostly Facebook Marketplace) prefer to pay a higher G&S price while the oldheads take the discount. It hasn't been too hard to zero out profits as I'm building my car because everything I buy for my car is considered "inventory" which usually leaves me with a low tax implication.

If you can trust Jim and Rich, who can you trust?
I never hesitate to do business with the well-known sellers here on this forum! This is a small community, and we need our trusted sellers now more than ever!
Even though you stopped responding to my pms a while ago, you have never done me wrong in any of our dealings over a course of a good decade , if not more. Always fair and shipped everything immediately .

Don't hesitate to contact
Maybe your PM mailbox is full or the sender's PM mailbox was full? If so, I'm pretty sure the forum won't let you send/receive PMs if that's the case, and it might not even inform you of the problem.
