For Sale

Is it just me or does it feel like the parts section is dying since they made the new marketplace? I'm restoring an FD and relied on this place for parts, but they are few and far between lately other than gauges and ecus

I find it much easier as a seller and buyer to use the new version. My biggest complaint with the old way of doing it was that I couldn't update my original post at all. So you had these long running years old posts with parts for sale that were long sold getting bumped up to the top of the page.

I really haven't noticed much of a difference between the two, except, it doesn't seem like there is much for sale as often anymore. And I have to choose 3 difference prompts to get to FD stuff. (For sale, parts, 3rd gen)

It’s not just you. I don’t even hear back from reputable members that claim to have what I need. I find better stuff just browsing on eBay lately. Good luck man.

I've noticed that more parts popping up on ebay for huge prices. I regularly check ebay for parts and have noticed listings almost double for used FD stuff in the last two years. My guess is that people are trying to cash in on the inflated JDM market and are hoping for an idiot to buy their things.

These are some of the newer listings that I've noticed:

$4000 for an Efini steering wheel.
$700 for the polished top half of an 99 spec Y-pipe (not the whole pipe)
$1000 for a stock air box
$600 for an R1 strut bar
$800 for a Mazdaspeed shift ****
$1000 for a pair of rear mud flaps (just the two rears)
$1000 for a 99 spec lip
$600 for a used stock igniter
$800 for one fog light
$1100 for a pair of 93 fog lights

Yeah I don't think this is to do with the new marketplace so much as the 90s JDM market is going crazy right now. The FD's are 20-25 years old now and original parts are becoming extremely scarce, especially interior parts.

It does seem like in the last year or so, the number of parts for sale posts have dropped off quite a bit and prices have gone up substantially in most cases.

Facebook Market Place has made selling stuff much easier and a wider audience.

You may need to bump it. Not everybody looks at the site routinely. If you still don't get any nibbles, there may not be any available that anyone wants to part with (whatever you are looking for).

Patience is a virtue with these cars. I'm still on the hunt for a couple items for like the last four years. Eventually stuff pops up

Another major reason why the heritage program will hopefully put an end to that. Currently the available restored parts have increased since February. Take a look and you might be able to get things directly from Mazda and avoid all the vulchers... :-)

It's in Japanese. So are the parts from Japan or could Ray get them Stateside for us?

If the man is connected, I don't see why he couldn't. The list might be in Japanese, the important part is if you know your part number. If you have a matching part number and its on this list, then bobs your uncle. Or in our case, Ray is your uncle.

I have a lot of FD parts, odds and ends, hard to find parts, aftermarket stuff, etc. While the new marketplace is easier it's still not great for mobile listings (the image uploader for the forums just kinda sucks and you can't PM images easily) and traffic is down. I stopped listing many things on here about a year ago and have been almost exclusively selling on Facebook groups and Facebook Marketplace. I'm planning to switch back to Ebay for some leftover/slow to move items because it's easier to hold onto "old" listings there.

I still browse the Marketplace here a couple times a week and occasionally respond to WTB ads. My advice- if you're looking for FD parts now, message Jim/Tomsn16 or post a WTB ad.
