Gas smell only when ac is on and I go into boost
Took the fd out today and noticed when I had the ac on and went into boost it would smell like gas for about 5 seconds. But with ac off I wouldn’t smell anything. Can anyone help me understand what’s going on

I had this problem on my car when I bought it. It was the brake booster vacuum hoses, I had the originals and not the ones they replaced under recall.
The original hoses had the check valve built in the hose that goes from the metal firewall pipe to the upper intake manifold. The recall moved that check valve to the hose from the pipe to the brake booster. You can feel the hoses, the check valve is in the hose.
It could be other things, but that's an easy one to fix. If you do have the original hoses, I think you can still get the recall kit that has the 2 new hoses for cheap. A Mazda dealer may actually do the recall, not sure if that's expired or what, though.
I would also jumper the fuel pump check connector and run the fuel pump and look/smell for fuel leaks to be on the safe side. A fuel leak, even a tiny one, is typically pretty quick to find by smell.

you aren’t wrong but it’s my only car at the moment 😅 so I was going to drive and pick up the new lines with the check valve. I work on it myself but do you think it’ll be fine to drive or should I get a lift?

First off I would call your Mazda dealer with your VIN and see if that recall has been done. If not they can do it for free - I had mine done when I bought my car in 2004. It's a 2-minute job, I would have no problem with the dealer doing it.
If you get the runaround or something see if you can buy the parts and do it yourself. It's 4 hose clamps, super easy.
I would also take a minute and see if you have the original style hoses before you get too carried away. That takes no time at all to determine.
