Replace starter 94 automatic
Replace starter 94 automatic
Starter seems to be drawing too much current from the battery, so I'm planning to replace it. Problem is, when I jack it up, it's hard to see where it bolts on. I got the wires all disconnected and it looks like there's a 12mm bolt and 12mm nut behind the starter that looks like it holds it from the side into the block/tranny. When I remove both it's still locked tight in there, so there must be another bolt that I haven't been able to find so far. Anyone know what else holds it in there?
It kind of bolts on the side of the engine. I've not done much with the auto trans cars but I have done an RX-8 auto starter which is similar.
You may have to get to some of the bolts from up top. All the bolts should be obvious, there's no weird hidden ones.
MAKE SURE to disconnect the battery. The main power wire is live, you can have a real bad day fast with that wire if the battery is hooked up.
Google and find some pictures of the automatic starter, that will give you a better idea of what it looks like off the car and where the bolt holes are.
This shouldn't be too hard, just have to get to all the bolts. There's no real secret here.
