I am getting ready to list my FD and I wanted to get some ballpark price here. I have the full write up I am going to post along with a lot of pics. I am not interested in parting it out or selling parts I am just going to sell it as it with all the parts i have accumulated over the years. This car is located in VA and i am expecting the purchaser to pick it up.
Thanks for helping
For sale ‘as is’ 1993 Mazda RX-7 touring edition. This is a black on black, 3 owner, vehicle with a clean title’ that I hold. I have owned this vehicle since 2003 and during that time this car has spent nearly all that time in my garage. I last started this car 2 years ago and it ran fine and pulled great. I tried to start it up Oct 21st 2017 and it turns over, but is not catching. This car has minimal aftermarket mods. It has Racing Beat spring and sway bars. It also has 99 tail lights and aluminum door scuff panels. The engine is stock twin turbo with less than 60k miles on it. The original speedometer that came with the car was having issues so I replaced it with one I purchased on the RX7Club. I have a huge assortment of parts for the car which are included in the photos I have on google drive, and I will list below. These parts are included with the purchase of the vehicle. I have replaced all the console plastics (AC cover, center console surrounding the shifter, gauge cluster, and hood with brand new Mazda OEM 94 plastics. These are in superb condition. I have replaced the driver’s door handle, and have a Mazda OEM passenger replacement handle that has not been installed. The old handles are just scuffed up. I replaced all the original tan interior with black interior and the carpets and panels are all in good condition. I have also replaced the floor mats with custom RX-7 embossed mats. The center console map bin is brand new Mazda OEM, so are the dash vents which were brittle and were replaced with OEM parts. The vast majority of the work I did to the car while I owned it was on the interior. The AC was working and blowing cold when I started it 2 years ago. The previous owner had the AC conversion and recharge done. There is a missing lug on the rear driver’s side where it had been cross threaded and I broke it off. I have a replacement lug nut but I could not locate the stud that I had also purchased so it is not included. The vehicle has a rear OEM spoiler which came with the car when I purchased it. The paint is in good repair, for the age of the car, where the only major issue is the front nose where there is some bubbling of the paint. There are some scratches on the paint but no major dents that I could see when taking pictures of it this weekend Oct 28 2017. This car is an ‘as is’ sale, and it will be the responsibility of the purchaser to provide transportation (and all costs of moving the vehicle) to its new location.
List of (as is) parts included with the sale:
New Silver grade battery from AutoZone
Delrin replacement bushing set
Delrin motor mount replacement bushings
Mazda OEM clutch slave cylinder
Mazda OEM replacement clutch assembly with fork and bearing
Mazda OEM replacement cooling hoses
Mazda OEM Spark Plugs
Mazda OEM Plug Wires
Mazda OEM Fuel Filter
Mazda OEM Oil Filter
Mazda OEM Lug Nut
Mazda RX-7 front and rear springs
Mazda OEM front and rear strut covers

Mazda OEM clutch line
Interior trim plastics
Mazda OEM Pillow ball bushings

I'm no expert, but I would guess around 10K. The interior looks nice. It needs paint, and some minor body work. Any buyer is going to assume it needs a new engine. Getting it running would be a big bonus as far as price goes.
^^ Agreed.
Op,
Your best bet is to not sell that car as a roller. So if you can get that car started and get a compression test performed. If all good then your car may be worth north of 18K (I couldn't see the pictures). If the engine is toast, then replace it.

It is absolutely worth it to take it to a shop and ask them to "make it run". The return for work short of an engine rebuild will be great.
Hell, it probably just needs to be de-flooded. Some brand new spark plugs, turn the motor over a few times with no plugs, then pop plugs in and go.
I agree, spend some time or money to get it running and driving and the price will go up exponentially. Not to mention the new buyer can test drive the car, feel out the suspension, see the gearbox and brakes work, etc.
If it has a solid engine, runs, and is in the shape the pictures show, I think $18k is a good number.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I am will pull the plugs and replace the fuel filter this weekend and see if I can get her to start. Is there an easy way to check to see if there is spark?

Quick look and it needs tires and paint minimum. I'm guessing it needs 10k invested which makes it a very hard sell for anything over 12k (that's if you can get it running, boosting etc...) or in other words it's a project FD. Just a decent paint job is 5 to 7k.
If it has rust, title issues, leaks blah blah blah it's worth less.

Yes sir. Just head on over to your local auto parts store sand get an ignition tester. Note that many times you can simply rent testers instead of buying them.

Get a helper and depending on how much you like them or how big they are:
- have him/her stick a finger in the spark plug boot whilst you turn it over
- pull a plug or use a spare plug, and ground it whilst turning it over and observe spark. Should be nice and fat and blue. Note: do NOT do this if you've got any sort of fuel on the engine.
Shogun,
How soon are you looking to run the ad then sell the car? I recommend getting the car to run first before the sale. This will give you more scratch in hand. I agree with Dale's recommendation - perform de-flood procedure, install clean plugs, check fuses, ensure battery is fully charged, then crank it up. Have you done that (de-flood) before? Do you have an FD buddy nearby to lend a hand?
Cheers,
George

Thanks for the advice, and I just happen to have a set of new plugs and a fuel filter.
If you need a hand, PM me. How deep into Richmond are you? I'm in Va Beach but my schedule may be tight for the weekend. I have an auto-x this Sunday and need to prep my FD on Sat, so long as I have enough daylight.

Thanks for the offer, really appreciate it. I am going to get my wife to help me at first with getting the FD started. If I get to where I need someone with experience I will reach out and see what is good for you.
Ouch! I'm sorry to hear about the surgery. I hope you recover quickly! When you feel ready to tackle the car and need a helping hand then shoot me a PM.
Cheers,
George
