MN Power steering return line

Hi guys,

I'm prepping to install my engine. While the engine is out I noticed how hard the power steering return line is. My guess it will not seal well where it meets the pump. The PS return hose is a molded line. I can't find a replacement - especially between now and Sunday when I plan to install the engine.

Has anyone used replacement non-formed line from the auto parts store? Curious if I do this if there will be any issues with interference if I replace the old formed line with new hose from Napa.

All the ones I've messed with have been non pliable but still seal fine. I wouldn't worry about it

Same here. It's not impossible to replace with the engine in the car if you need to down the road.

Since it is low pressure it really doesn't have much of a tendency to leak. Also PS fluid swells the rubber and helps prevent leaks too.

My thought is it would be really easy to replay that line now with the engine out and would cost about $10 for a "non-formed" piece of hose from Napa. I just worry that without the little "jog" that is formed in the stock hose, I might have interference issues.

The stock lines aren't too expensive, I replaced mine after they leaked during a track day last year. I forget if I bought from Ray Crowe or Mazdatrix or Atkins.

If you get some universal hose you'll have problems. Get the OEM part.
