Hey everyone! Ever since purchasing my car it has never had a knock sensor installed on the block. Recently I have been trying to finish up a few things on the car, while in storage for the winter I purchased an knock sensor from Amazon (Dont judge me!) and just recently got around to installing it. I have recently been using FC tweak which is fantastic and has cleaned up my map. Unfortunately it is showing no knock sensor signal, my commander as well shows no knock readings whatsoever. I am trying to diagnose if it is the knock sensor itself or possibly a faulty pin on the POWER FC ecu itself. I tested continuity from the female pigtail in the engine bay back down to the plug that would go into the ecu and it does have continuity. I have been reading around and have found various conflicting reports on if the female connector from the ecu in the engine bay that the knock sensor plugs into should have 5v with key on but engine off. Currently I get no voltage at the female pigtail with key on, I have also tested the knock sensor a few different ways but get no AC volt spikes with multimeter and knock sensor in a vice, I am unsure if im actually doing the test properly or not as Youtube has multiple different videos for single wire knock sensor testing. I just ordered a new knock sensor and while I wait I figured I would ask the forum gurus for a bit more clarity! Thanks again ! 0 Volts at female knock sensor plug with key on
the knock sensor is a microphone, so it generates a signal to the ecu. that wire should have continuity and that is it.
for trouble shooting you can run your own wire
