The whole panels-not-fitting, mismatched wheels, crummy paint/stickers, and home built appearance is part of the "drift" aesthetic. It's not that anyone's lazy or lacks pride, and it's not because it's a track car or may be wrecked. It's intentional. I picture people spending time misaligning stuff to achieve "the look." Even the pro cars, which obviously have plenty of prep time and money put into them, and drivers that aren't expecting to wreck them look like like that.
It's basically the car equivalent of wearing baggy pants hanging down with your underpants and/or *** crack hanging out. If you like that sort of thing, it'll be the sort of thing you like.

Why is that "ego" or ignorant?
I took a different tack from simply calling you lazy or lacking in pride, or skill to fit body panels and match wheels, to simply say what we all know is true. You want it that way, because it's part of "the look". It's fashion. Just like musicians typically wear "the look" that is associated with their style of music.
Own it and quit pretending you just "don't care because it'll see track time". You said it yourselves. It's "style".

Bn sports never lines up. Fact. Why spend hundreds to make it fit properly when the bumper cost less than $300? Pointless. That car is probably going to drag panels in a straight line. Fact. Why spend all the time to hard mount them when that will cause the fiberglass to shatter ruining the piece when you can just do a few rivnuts to loosely attach them? You either know or you dont know. It's not a "style" People dont try to "achieve" the loose fitting panels. It just happens. .___.

Fitting body panels that "never" line up and drag on the ground, and then making no effort make them look right or work correctly is a CHOICE, not a "happening". A tree falling down in the woods is a "happening."
When it's a purely aesthetic addition to start with, with a known outcome like you claim, i'd call that an intentional style choice. I certainly know of plenty of track cars where the owner doesn't spend much effort on aesthetics, but fitting cornball body kits that drag on the ground or are counter-functional or a loosely-attached liability with no effort paid to making it work seems like a different thing altogether, don't you?
So take your pick. Style or laziness. Personally, I think style was the lesser of two evils there.
