Wait you can't leave us hanging without engine bay pics. Especially since you say it's making 1200rwhp. Did I read that right? Lol

And yes everything you said about the Z I feel EXACTLY the same way.

I will miss my fd and its not even 1% of what your fd was but I know the Z will be 100x the car my fd was and I can actually enjoy my weekend cruises/drives/car meets.

Your z looks incredible.

^^ What about the engine? What has been done to make it reliable for 1200whp? Pistons, cams, studs, compression? Although the basics are similar, I'm not that familiar with V8 modification but something in me says it might be easier and maybe cheaper to get 1000hp from a V8 then it is to get 600-700hp from a rotary be it 13b or 20b. So much more parts and supporting mods are involved.

Cams? There's only 1.

It doesn't take much to extract power from a v8, especially as potent as the ls7. Then when you throw boost at it, the results are even greater. Although im sure extensive bottom end work was done as the ls7 cylinder walls are thin, so taking boost on a stock bottom end probably wouldn't have worked. Especially if its making over 1000hp.

I'm curious to see what internals were used for the built. To see what's different than the other guys with tt c6z's have done.

its a lot more expensive to build a v8 to support high horse power than a 20b.

It would either have to be a 993 turbo with a stock body and lots of power and suspension mods. I have also looked at doing a single turbo 20b Boxster S with a pattriti designs widebody. that car would be a track monster.

Porsche gave us one last beautiful 911 with the 993 before turning them into an oversize pig when they went to the 996/7/8.

Someone offered me money for my FD during a weak period for me, so I started looking around at sports cars to replace it. I wanted to do something american this time around if I did change, it was between a C6 Z06 (red, I actually found one I was about to buy in New Jersey but it was sold before I could make flight plans to check it out), or a red Dodge Viper SRT10 only the hardtop models so 06 or newer (since I was looking for 06 or newer I was just jumping straight to 08s since they had the 600hp motor) They were extremely hard to find since I basically limited myself to such strict parameters. I decided to keep my FD, but I know for a fact the next sport car I'm getting will be one of those two monsters.

A c6z would be a better buy over the srt10.

Easier to maintain, more reliable, more practical. (Those vipers have terrible blindspots)

It is also cheaper to insure, and IMHO looks better.

Not to mention you can't beat the sound of a v8. Those viper v10's sound terrible..

Only v10's that sound good are the gallardo v10 and Audi's v10.

I forgot about the carrera gt. That does sound amazing.

I don't like the m5 v10. That's another that sounds like poo.

I was making my opinion based on sound throughout the entire rpm range. Idle, low revs, wot etc.

If I ever got rid of my FD (fat chance), it would be for another FD.

I agree with bewtew about the M5 - amazing sounding V10. Especially with an exhaust.

Would never give up my FD for anything with a cross plane crank V8 - worst sounding engines.

Im talking about stock sounds.

And its just my opinion too. It may sound like sex to you, but doesnt mean it will sound amazing to someone else. I do agree aftermarket does make that sound alot better but i think a stock M5 v10 sounds like ***. IMO.

While I don't think I'd ever sell the fd, I might turn it into a track day car. For the roadracing I'd build a gts-2 imsa rx7, and for the daily commute the all new 2013-2014 Porsche GT3.

This thread has been going for awhile.

I have an LS1 FD and a modded 09 GT-R. If I was upgrading from an FD, it would be to a GT-R but I am lucky to have both right now. If I have to give one up hands down its the FD. The GT-R is just faster in average road conditions and a ton more pleasant to daily drive. Plus even though my FD is swapped, I still spend tons of time tinkering with it. Its nice to have a fast fun car that I never need to do anything to. Just having a much newer reliable car with an interior that looks great and doesn't break is wonderful.

As a daily driver I found the fd too cramped, too loud, and too finicky. You'll always be chasing something worn out in 20 year old cars. Its a great 30 minute car, but after that the honeymoon is over !
Sounds like Icemastr is right on. Its nice to hop in a fast comfortable car every day and just drive.

My next car will be a 911. Either a RWB 993 (the best body style IMO) or a 997 GT3/RS.
