Whats BS about it.

Look at the gearing.

Final Drive Ratio = 3.42

@ 7000 Rpm:

1st. 2.66 = 61 mph
2nd. 1.78 = 91 mph
3rd. 1.30 = 125 mph
4th. 1.00 = 162 mph
5th. 0.74 = 220 mph
6th. 0.50 = 325 mph

6th gear is basically overdrive as no C6Z has enough room or the power, or the aerodynamics to hit 300, its basically useless in racing.

Topping out 5th has been done plenty of times. With drag limited at around 6000-6200rpm in 5th, that puts you really around 193-196mph. EASILY capable in a stock Z. With enough room.

SO how is it BS??

Motor Trend has their own opinions. I personally like the "devilish corvette". Skip to 8:15 and watch the vette decimate the competition

Wouldn't mind trying a Chrysler 300C, they look like a Bentley in the right color imo.

Anyone who thinks they are cool getting a 300 cause it looks like a Bentley should be shot.

I hope 300 owners really don't think that.

I'd rather get the Kia optima.

A big v8 with AWD and no way to turn off the traction control. Also a big heavy car in general. They're cozy but that's all I'd give it.

New Kia optima sx turbo? I hear theyre pretty quick. But I still haven't had any drive to get a Kia. I know they've made bounds in improvements since the Kia sportage I drove (early 2000 model). That thing was falling apart not 9 years after its birth.

Heavily modded c6z, on fresh tires (hoosier A6s) that are much stickier than the hankook c51s I was on.

Thanks!

That car had mucho power (at least 500 rwhp).

My car was running low boost approx 12 psi that tapers down to about 9 at red line on a t04e 1.15 hot side bolted to med street ported engine so no more than 350.

I WAS on a mission

Brent (other 1/3) of "Almost Racing" had just come in the session before bitching about this guy in the c6 who was reluctant to give him a point by so when I went out and saw him coming down the front straight I decided to wait for him, let him go by and give him hell

Again he was doing very well so not knocking him or the car just giving the FD props

Yep, first session out on Saturday I wanted a clean, traffic free lap. Just one. I got to grid early and the only cars in front of me were a GT3 and the "projectl" C6Z. The GT3 immediately let me by, but the C6Z was not having it. I was all over him except for the back and front straight when he would take off and leave me. After like 3-4 laps he finally let me by after he got really sideways in turn 1. It didn't matter though, we had all kinds of other traffic by that point so no chance of a clean lap. Like Fritz said, dude was moving, but was still a little slower than us.

A vette doesn't weigh that much more. And the gearing is insane.

Fd's in the right hands can do amazing things. You showed it and i have seen time and time again on the BMI DVDs.

But an out of the box monster like a c6z should be respected. Lol

Pete but he'd never admit to it

You've made it clear you'd prefer the C6 and I can appreciate that because it's a great car
