FPspec Öhlins, RZ seats and Desmond Koenig wheels are the only items that does not look 100% OEM on the car. They are also the main cost drivers in interior, exterior and suspension

I keep a list so my wife knows what everything was worth if i die. I have not told her, and she has not asked.

wasn't it something like 72? it varies a little depending on year and market. only 11 are supposed to see boost
then in 1996 it drops to something more like a 12A.
FYI, my car is just a fun toy, so i've made no effort to keep track.

For me, half the fun is to plan ahead, find part numbers, make spreadsheets and budgets. So i plan on doing this part this year, that part that year, then these are the parts i need for engine etc.
It gives me satisfaction to have an overview of both plans and completed work

I need to replace my wheels ASAP but I haven't decided for which ones yet.

Engine rebuild and clean up $39,000
Paint: $15,000
Custom Modifications: $6,500
HRE Wheels: $12,000
Sakebomb RZ+ wheels: $2,500
FPSpec Coilovers: $4,000
F&R BBK:$9,000
Custom fabricated E-brake" caliper: $2,500
Haltech 2500: $2500
OEM 99 Spec parts: $4,000
Shine Carbon parts: $3,000
Carbon skin interior parts: $3,500
------
$90,000 give or take
I'm probably over $100,000 without the price of the car (95' R2, 68k miles). I'm also sure to be missing a lot of smaller ticket items only listed $1,000+ items.
I still have the interior and audio left to do, I was quoted $21,000 for the interior and $5,500 for the audio. I also want the authentic Feed side skirts, so that's another $1,000 after new tariffs and shipping. I also pulled a turbo and front mount that I spent $20,000 and back in 2001 I spent $10k on a rebuild and porting, 3mm seals, pinning and other BS long forgot about.., should that count into the totals??? Then the car will finally be done and I'll share the photos along the way. Worst part is FD Auto didn't give me his #1 spot for best FD... I guess I need to spend MORE.

I am bewildered seeing people spend $50k - $75k+ on one RX7. I think many people are buying in to this OEM+ hype where they justify a higher price with better quality. Why do you need to upgrade your oem dual oil cooler setup with a $2000 Sakebomb oil cooler setup? Your oem setup has been fine for 30 years. Is your Costco parking lot really that hot?
I have owned my FD for ten years. About six years ago, I got the car to a reliable, turn-key, state. I became very content with the car and realized that dumping money in to the car would not make me enjoy it any more than I already do. At that point, I continued to maintain the car and became very selective about my future mods. I only upgraded parts when old ones wore out or upgraded parts that I believed would significantly improve my enjoyment of the car. With this philosophy, I have spent a total of $20kUSD ($27k CAD). That includes the car and all mods.

I have not needed to do anything to it except change oil and fuel really, except for maybe changing the old vacuum and coolant rubber hoses. Also "Competition motorfester" is "competition engine mounts" :
