Holy Diff Noise

I noticed a loud clunk noise coming from my rear. It happens only when making a turn from zero (at a stop sign making left/right turn = clunk noise with some skipping noise too). It doesnt happen every time I make those turns but happens pretty much whenever I drive the car. I do not track the car or anything like that, nor do I daily it. I put the car on jack stands and noticed my rear right wheel was slightly wobbly but nothing that would make a loud clunk noise, even when driving. Didnt notice any leaks near the diff.

IF your RR wheel has any wobble, IE left/right or up/down, then you need to attempt to determine where the play is coming from. More than likely you have a worn pillowball bushing. There are 3 on each side of the rear suspension and they typically clunk when they are worn out.

I'd recommend (if you find out it is one of those) checking the FAQ as there are a few good threads on replacing them.

Yep, I would bet on one or more bad pillow ball bushings. Common problem.

Based on the description and Video
1. Very very bad pillows
2, Bad axle ( CV joint or spline)
3. Diff problem, but description indicates no noise except when turning

J Auto or OEM?

I found where I can get some pillow ball bushings and came across J Auto. They seem legit. Any concerns with them?

Rumble noise as well.

I failed to mention that the car also makes a low rumble noise when accelerating through 1st and 2nd gear. Not sure where its coming from though.

The J-Auto pillow ***** are good but I've heard stories lately of slow or no shipping and little to no communication. I'd contact him and make sure he has them in stock before ordering.

Or just get Mazda OEM. They cost a bit more though.

Make SURE to get new dust seals. I did a set of pillow ***** some time back and just re-used the dust seals, the pillow ***** were shot again in a year.

My car had that noise when I first purchased it and it was a bad transmission.

No communication, but everyone gets what they ordered. I think he's tired of answering questions and can't justify the extra time. Good for business? No. Want it cheap? It works out OK.

Sounds like a wheel bearing. A worn pillow ball will result in clunks but not really observable movement in the suspension IME. A worn CV axle, which functions in a similar manner as a wheel bearing, would be the second thing I'd check.
