^Agreed. It might be the best way to go. But it’s not the only way to go.
Mine was a broken mounting tab which was repaired and still holding just fine a decade or so later.

I bought new ones and the paint guy had a hell of a time matching years old Montego Blue. They're still not perfect after three tries. Maybe it's just that particular color but still something to think about. Unless yours have fallen off or are unrepairable, you might wanna bust out the epoxy.

My piano wire hack saved the day recently, when lid lifted off driving around town. But I have noticed new are not that expensive so will go with those next time I am getting some touch up painting done.
