Greddy oil temp sensor coolant setup fail
Hi guys
So my oil temp sensor has failed on my Greddy old school white Trust.
Found some universal ones on ebay cheap will these work. I can off old and attach new, not a problem.
i am guessing it will give a reading however will this be correct as not sure if Greddy units have somthing in place to stop using cheep ones.

First off, those sensors RARELY if ever go bad. I would make sure the wiring isn't damaged first.
Sensors are available separately, you can get a new sensor for it if that is the problem.
Non-Greddy sensors may not use the same resistance range or use the same electrical connector. Also, the oil and water temp are the same sensors FYI. I would just get a new Greddy sensor and you'd be good to go.

Thabks for the info, i have taken the sensor off and testing via 20k not getting any resistance, checked all wiring, even set a new ground but no look.
would like a greddy sebsor but 80ish and from outside uk so time and tax. 😐

You may be able to find one used for cheap, especially if it comes with a damaged gauge or something. Also I think some other JDM sensors might work like HKS or Apexi.

I tried one if those cheap eBay sensors and they work only for a certain range. At idle my oil pressure would read zero to 4psi. It wasn't until 2000rpm and up it would read normal. Normal as compared to the original sensor. This was with an aem digital gauge. Switching over to a new aem pressure sensor, all readings went back to normal. As dale mentioned though, it could just be the calibration values of the sensor vs the gauge. It sucks but your best option is to buy another greddy sensor.

Update
Just for archiving i will update this will a final fix but at the moment waiting on a cheap £3 eBay sensor. This runs the same range as the Greddy so should be fine and is a two wire connector.
This will save me over £60 if it works, basically these are the vintage old white gauges and prefer the new style ones. If this dose not work i would rather put the money towards the newer models.
However ft does work i will keep them for now, but will update this post.
