Good deal?

Hey all,
I just wanted to get your opinion on this decision I have to make. So I may have the opportunity to purchase another FD (details will be below). The price I'm getting it for is $40k which seems pretty damn high. Again, details on the car will be listed below. Anyways, the seller also has a new pair of Spirit R seats still in the wrapping and after years of hassling him about it, he'll sell it to me with the car for the price listed above ($40k). I can buy the seats by itself but if I do that, he'll sell me the seats for $10k (which is obviously high but they are Spirit R seats..). So in my head, $40k is a great deal and I could sell off the car if need be but hoping to sell the car for $35k. So my questions are...

1.) Is this in your opinion a great deal?
2.) If I do sell the car, do you think I can sell it for $35k?
3.) Should I just buy the seats by itself?

Any input will help. Also, no, I will not give you the contact information of the person who is selling me this stuff. Haha.

Details of the car:
1995 Mazda RX-7 R2 Package (Black on Black)
- Clean Title
- 60k miles on Chassis
- New Motor w/ 3mm Apex Seals and Street Ported
- 99 Spec Turbos / Power FC
- Intake (M2 i believe)
- Koyo Radiator / Upgraded Intercooler (Brand Unknown) V-Mount
- Stainless Steel 3" Downpipe / OEM Cat / HKS Catback
- ACT Clutch / Aluminum Flywheel (Brand Unknown)
- RB Tubular Sway Bars w/ Reinforcements / RB Rear Sway Bar
- JIC Coilovers
- Stoptech BBK
- Sparco Seats (R2 Original Passenger Seat will come with purchase)
- 17" SSR Lintegral A2 / Wraped on Toyo RA1s
- Roll Cage

Here's some pictures

Looks like a nice car but the mods would hurt resale from what ive seen. Maybe if it were stock.

I figured that. If it were stock, this thing would be gold.

The thing that hurts the most is the cage for me. I'm sure I can part it out and make extra cash parting it out but the dash was slightly cut for the cage.... for the most part, everything can be reverted back except for that cage and the cut dash...

That's more like a $25k car. Bridge ported with twins? Makes no sense.

Thanks! More input the better. The only reason for me to consider the car was getting a discount on the Spirit R seats with the plan on selling off the car after the fact. Though having a track car is also a plus...

Also found out its street ported, not bridge ported. Updating original post. Owner got back to me with more details.

If you are after the Spirit R seats just because they are Spirit R, it may be a good way to get them if you are prepared to sit on the car for a while hoping the value to appreciate.

If you just want better seats, you can get some amazing carbon backed, and reclinable, seats for much less than $10k. Way better than the spirit R seats, except they don't have the sentimental aspect of being Spirit R.

I'm super **** about my FD so the only seats that i actually gave a gander to was the RZ seats or the Spirit R seats. Initially, I wanted to do a Spirit R replica for the FD so i ended up picking up the Gauge Cluster, Shift ****, Shift Boot, E-Brake lever and Boot as well as the Steering Wheel. I did also pick up the RZ Brakes which will get the Spirit R coloring as well. There is the sentimental aspect for me with the Spirit R but also im a glutton for punishment when it comes to "rare" parts. A big flaw of mine...

I hear ya on curating rare items, there is a certain charm to them that readily available parts just don't have. I almost bought an HKS GT 2835 TT kit for an MKIV with no plans to install
it, but just to have for the nostalgia of it. The seller ended up deciding to keep it after all but we want what we want.

In regards to the value of the car, it is difficult to judge the condition with those photos. Are there cosmetic issues, any undercarriage rust, numbers of owners, any paintwork, are the stock parts available? All those questions go into the value of the car IMO.
Given the current market I would think if its clean it would be a $30k-$33k car. Afterall it is one of 18 in that configuration and '95's in general have value just due to the model year.

If you see yourself actually using and enjoying the car then I would go for it - if its just the seats you want then you know your answer ; )

I agree about the cage. Cutting the original metal/dash is a no-no IMO. Putting track car parts on a street car is the quickest way to make your car an undriveable POS.
