FD VIN Data

Everyone,

Just curious to know why I've seen differences on GVWR & GVAR '93 VIN tag weights? Mine says 3201, but I've seen other R1s that say 3210. Were these numbers possibly updated monthly based on production "average" weights for that month? Just curious to understand the deviation.

Thx!

Wow, 266 views with no replies. Feel like I'm pitching a no hitter here .

So, to follow up, I viewed another FD VIN plate from the same production month as mine (2/92) and it uses the same weight numbers as mine. Again, my guess is that each month had a "production average" that was used for the VIN weights. Again, if anyone has more complete info on this topic, please chime in!

Thx

The regulations for the safety plate are really specific, averages are not used. My guess is that Mazda included different equipment or parts that added a few pounds in later production, and revised the GVWR accordingly.
