Absolutely not worth it in any way. Geez!!! I'll import an entire vehicle and cannibalize it before I spent that kind of money on such an insignificant part. Crazy how the FD 'fanboy-dumb' has driven perceived 'values' up so high.
20 years ago when the part was brand new (available for a somewhat reasonable price) and I was a kid in my 20's I considered the jdm gauge cluster swap cool, not so much anymore. Nearly every usdm s6 gets 'converted' to s8 nowadays; some serious '99 spec weenie envy imo.
The scene has really turned into an echo-chamber...
I plead the 5th... Just kidding, i was heavily thinking about getting it but decided not to at the moment. Wanted to put it on the black FD but timing is not right for me to spend on a gauge cluster.
On another note....
Mazdaspeed CF Intake Box is on. Mazdaspeed SMIC will go on after some fin repairs and possibly some powdercoating. Not sure if i want to keep the metal look or powdercoat it black to make it more low key.
Grats on the Intake.
This was no fluke on the cluster, there were 4 bidders over 420000, 8 over 300000, and likely several more like me that never bid because it was over their target.

Thanks! I'm willing to pay a pretty penny for pieces for rare and useful pieces. The R-spec gauges are nice but i prefer other gauges. I like the Spirit R gauges i have. Though i will admit i was willing to go up to $3.5k for it.

Thanks! No trimming was needed, i had to reroute the airbag sensor rather than being up and over it goes under and through. There seems to be a little bit of clearance issues with the hood., i adjusted the hood latch striker a bit but didn't remedy it much but i got to push doesn a little on the hood to get it locked or drop the hood slightly higher than normal to get it to lock. USDM/LHD problems... lol

^ I was one of the 8s over 300,000 yen. (Over 350,000)
It was crazy, good try.
I forgot about this thread and made a new one for this weird item. I thought it might be aftermarket, but it fits in the map pocket perfectly and has the same felt finish as the other interior parts like the glove box.

I don’t think anyone has posted this yet, but I have probably one of the only OEM rear tinted windows in the US that I brought back with me from England. Only came on the RS, RZ, and Spirit R models! The one I have is on the blue hatch and the white car is my buddy’s RS. You can see how there’s a dark tint and you can’t see any defroster lines because the actual glass is dark not just a tint film.

I always wondered who was the manufacturer? I wouldn’t mind a privacy OEM rear hatch glass…

I wondered what your username was over here haha. They were also fitted to R models on S8's. It's one of the underrated upgrades, looks great in person, I love mine .

Nope. You can tell that’s got a tinted film. Hell, the hatch itself has been repainted. You can tell the defrosting lines a lot clearer than the real thing too.

Same, I'll try to see if i can find some markings on it when I can. As far as I know, you cannot buy the glass separately from any source and your best bet is to find a RS/RZ/SR car that is being parted out. I bought this hatch for a steal from a RS model that was being parted out when i was in England.

Hey man, not much different from the other forum right? I think you sending me pics of your car was the final nudge to get me to buy it.
No, that is a normal glass that has been tinted with regular tint film. When you place the film behind the defrost lines, it allows them to be seen much more prominently. The OEM tinted glass is a darker shade itself which is why you cant see the defrost lines which imo gives it a more modern look.
Was looking for MS-02 and came across these Volk CV-PRO with Mazdaspeed branding. Did a little research and found that they made did special branding for a few manufacturers back in the day. I don’t think there is anything actually different from regular CV-Pro except the decals though, so not really a special Mazdaspeed only wheel like MS-01, 02, etc.
FD parts prices are nothing compared to the Skyline GT-R world. The craziest? The optional xenon (HID) headlights for the R33 GT-R. $12k-15k per side (BNIB).
this certainly qualifies as rare..... i have the JDM optional coin tray insert for the driver's door map pocket. i also have a mint map pocket lid which i keep safe in my parts bin.
