every bridgeport I have come across is either garbage or turned to garbage quickly. I would skip it and find something in better condition and something with stock ports. I would also want stock seals and one that was rebuilt with new housings if you want to go all out. Be very picky who rebuilt the engine as well.

We have a lot of rx7's around here and I am not trying to be mean most are pretty beat up. If you look at the $$$ spent, the garbage cars have had a lot of money thrown at them and they still are garbage and don't run right. The best plan of attack is buying a well running car that is pretty stock engine wise and has maybe a few really good mods that has been maintained well. Maintained well being coolant flushed every other year, proper warm up and down, new plugs every year or two, etc. New coils, everything that mattered on the rx8 also matters on the rx7.

The rx8 is a whole different ball game since you can get reman engines which are basically a new engine for only $2800-$2900. trans in the rx8's are also super cheap. I went that route with my rx8. The rx7's seems to attract more modified type people and everyone thinks they can rebuild the engine themselves and it turns out really expensive and most have been crappy.

After some long thinking, im going to take a look at this car next week. I got the seller to come down to $5500 and while my heart says do it, rereading the replies on this thread have my brain really wondering what I should do. I found a rotary expert in RotorSports Racing about two hours away from me. He has been doing this for 30 plus years. He said if the engine was built by PF Supercars, it’s a solid engine. The great unknown is of course the 5 years of sitting.

What are some key things I should look for when I check it out? The key thing for me is rust on the chassis. My wife says that thing probably became a home for field mice. If the car doors haven’t been opened in 5 years, I don’t know if that’s good or bad for interior...
