The FD is on the cusp of Classic status

If it hasn't been brought up with FC's already, you might want to check local state smog regs for "classic/antiques". $200 reg waiver for free mods? We'll take it.

Not pimping but Hagerty has great classic rates, towing and perks. (Yeah as "old rotor-heads" now, wtf. )

I insured my 93 as "questionable" 3 years ago and accepted, but now it's a solid Classic.

Something to think about.

Unless I'm missing it, they give no valuation for FD's, yet they have z32 and nsx listed?

Just curious to know what your experience with Hagerty has been vs Grundy. I'm looking for some specialty insurance, and am trying to decide between the two.

I think grundy limits you to a certain mileage per year and haggardy is not as strict. One of them annoyed me with that I remember but I can't be sure which. Also you aren't allowed to drive your car to work ever and if it gets stolen at work or accident on the way they say the won't cover it. Unless it's a full time show car only for shows and garage detailing I would just get geico. The classic insurance is too restrictive and not that much cheaper than real full insurance through geico

I'm assuming that you've been fortunate enough to never have to find out how their claims departments are? Thanks for your insight! It's much appreciated.

I did look at American Collectors. The problem is that they specifically prohibit any racing (even timed events), whereas Grundy seems to be okay if you're on a track participating in a "club" event. I have to double check this. Besides, isn't SCCA a club after all? ;-)

Timed events is what racing is all about. A drivers education or high performance driving event isn't timed. Hardly any of us actually race. We do a track day and it's broken up into catagories based off experience on the track. No one stands on a podium afterwards spraying champagne around or having their photo taken with the sponsor models lol.

Just because you drive fast around a closed course doesn't constitute racing. Most of these events don't even allow passing unless in advanced groups.

Yes, that's my point. American Collectors says no timed events permitted in their policy. They sound the most restrictive when it comes to actually having fun in our cars (I don't think driving in a parade is fun).

Specifically from their web site: "Not used for racing, timed events or Driver's Education."
