FD Balljoints, how to keep them alive? Re-grease? Zerk fitting?
Hey
After getting a unpleseant sound in the rear, i have started thinking about doing some work on the old bushings around the car. Its a 94 mod with less than 40k miles on the odo.
I dont have any bad sounds in the front, but im not sure how long that will last.
While researching the suspension parts i learned that the front balljoints are not replaceable, and that new (OEM or aftermarket) are expensive. So im curious to what i can do to keep the ones i have alive for as long as possible.
I know the boots are available, so i can replace them, but i have no idea about how that is done. Any
Also, is it possible to retrofit them with a Zerk fitting? That way regreasing them is a breeze and its doable without removing anything from the car, and that means it gets done as part of the yearly oil change.

Really, I've seen very few ball joints go bad on FDs. Any rear end noise or slop is almost sure to be the pillow ball bushings, you will probably go through a bunch of sets of those before ever needing a control arm. I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about ball joint life span.

So just keep an eye on them and replace the boots? What kind of grease should i repack them with in that case?
EDIT: Just ordered both the Mobilgrease XHP "322 Mine" and "222 Special". Should be good enough i guess?
