Diesel and other dumb stuff :)

So when i get an rx7 i wanna make it crazy. Does anyone know if you can diesel swap one. If so i was going to put a compound turbo system on it. I was a going to add a supercharger for good measure. Anyone know if thats possible and if it is can a diesel engine handel it? After that i was going to put welded diffs and metal engine mounts. Would those mods damage the car or no. If the engine stuff works out, how would i get that stright pipe exaust that goes strait through the hood. After that any other mods to push the car to the absolute max and beyond? Thanks

You seem very young. I’ll just tell you: you may think it’s cool now but once you’ve spent the $50k or more to do it, you’ll have a car you hate and don’t want to drive.

Mmmmmm….diesel with a compound turbo system AND supercharger, welded diff, exhaust out the hood? And even though he’s only 24, he’ll have someone do all the work for him.

TROLL

Tbh, ive actually entertained the idea of putting a diesel in a 1st gen tho.
not full obnoxious hoon spec, just a healthy 150kw/500nm affair from a wrecked japanese mid size pick up and stupid tall gearing and stupid low mpg.
i imagine it would have its charm and be fun to drive.
just a pipe dream though. There are a milion better things to do

There was a guy who brought a diesel swapped FB to Deal's Gap several years ago. IIRC, the engine was a smallish 4 cyl diesel with a small turbo that was sourced from a Japanese car/truck (Mitsu maybe?). Anyway, his was setup to be civilized, with a proper exhaust fitted and such, and other than having to cut open the hood a bit to fit the taller engine, and it needing lots of cosmetic work to make it pretty, it was civilized and functional. Roughly the same or a little less RWHP than a stock 12A, but like double the torque. But since the stock gearing wasn't well matched to the motor's power/torque curve, it was a slug off the line but once it was moving, he would keep it in one gear and just chug thru the dragon at about the same pace as the other FBs. And he said it got great mileage on the highway - like 27MPG

Maybe if Liquid Piston would get off their ***, we could have the best of both worlds - diesel rotary!

Also, totally agree the OP is a troll.
