Pretty sure it's mislabeled.

FD's were produced starting in late 1991. Japan doesn't really do "model years" like we do - like you can go to a dealer and get a 2024 car in 2023.

That said, that is a VERY early car. The VIN is FD3S-100230 so that's like number 230 off the line.

Yep, that's an early one. December 9, 1991. MSC Code is F105-31L. So it's a Type X with manual transmission, one of 221 with this exact build spec. Still trying to crack what the las3 3 digits in the MSC code mean. The "3" for this is the "level". For version 1 FDs, 1 is Type S, 2 is Type R, 3 is Type X, 4 is RZ. The 2nd (1 vs C in most cases) and last digits are where things get murky, I haven't deciphered those yet.

For reference, the first one released for sale is FD3S-100028, built on October 19, 1991.

Someone on here from Canada(?) had a 91 about 10 years ago.

Mileage seems suspiciously low, but the painted plastics seem good - and it has climate even. You'd want to do a Japanese vehicle history check before touching it still!

Duncan Imports….isn’t this the same outfit that knowingly misrepresented an FD as a Type R to the buyer in this thread?

Yup, same seller. And since "Gaijin won't know anyway" seems to be the norm amongst vehicle exporters in Japan with regard to descriptions on the paperwork, situations like this happen quite often. I've caught fake Evos too, hence why I stress the old adage of Buyer Beware and asking me for a Build Sheet before buying. I bet Steve Lehto would find all of it quite interesting too.
