other than shaving it completely off what are some things people have done to improve the look of the antenna while keeping it functional

How important is that antennae to radio performance anyway. Mine's completely sheared off, i assume probably from the previous owner going through a car wash or something, and radio seems to work fine.

I plan on getting a new mast for it (20 bucks from amazon!?) and disabling the motor anyway because Tom (tomsn16) mentioned something about the motor causing boot fires.
