If I put 3 instead of 3.5 think I'll be alright?

Should be if it's flexible, but 3.5mm fits wonderfully. 4mm is too loose.

Boostcontroller.com has 3.5mm vacuum hose in stock for a great price.

I ordered 3mm from boost controller on accident and it fits great...so far.

I would worry that it could be a little TOO tight especially when dealing with the plastic nipples on the solenoids. .5mm doesn't sound like much but it is.
