2018 best vented hoods?

Seibon is what first comes to mind. However I was looking at carbon miata. Anyone have any info on them?
Most of the threads are a little ehhhh, old regarding hoods so I wanted to see if anyone knows if the quality has changed in any manufacturer or if all is the same? Any new brands worth looking at? I should have my fd out of garage soon and I was going to wait till December, but I may take her straight for paint (satin black). I will most likely stick with a carbon fiber hood for awhile so fit and finish is important. I know this was best to death in the past., but any help is appreciated. Of course I would like an easy install using factory points.

Shine Auto Project (Shine Auto Project) is worth a look!

Their FEED Hood is currently being reworked, but I know it's clooooose. I believe their RE-A hood is also spot on.

Thanks. I will check it out. Not sure how long it will take before it is complete.
I was actually considering their low profile carbon rear lip, but I may go with a 99 spec. She will be painted without spoiler regardless.
I need to decide on good pretty quick though as I know some can take a few weeks to arrive.

I forgot to mention on the FEED (old style anyway) that I am not so pleased with the function from what I have read. Fit, finish, and quality is top notch. I am looking for function over looks.

best function vented hood is probably a mix between Scoot hood or the RE-A ad9 hood.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking seibon TS or KS. They seem a little smoother than than the ad9. I agree though. I am not sure about the scoot. Not sure about the "ram" air if that would create any odd turbulence and take away from the venting.
VIS JS looks interesting. Subtle, but possibly effective.

The original Scoot hood has a channel behind the centre vent that pushed the air from the centre vent on to the back of the engine to cool that area. The reproductions don't have this channel.

The original Scoot hood and the VIS hood also have larger and more protruding vents. The Seibon hood has smoother and smaller vents (aka smoother).

Wow, thanks for that info. I think that would be an incredible idea actually. I do not see myself undertaking that, but it would definitely be beneficial.
I am down to 2 models. The TS or the KS.

Same here... that's why I was looking at the JS version from vis. Seemed closest to the mazdaspeed, besides the KS version from Seibon.
I plan on putting her in the paint booth in a couple weeks so I am trying to make a decision.

If your FD is running hot, the hood isn't gonna help much. If anything it'll make your car less secure with a wet engine.

Thanks for the concern, but she is running perfect. I have a couple mods in mind before I start turning the boost back up. A vented hood is one of them. I will be changing the color (full paint job), so now is the time for the hood.
I guess if I cant decide i will have the OEM painted also (I was trying to offset the cost of new hood).

I think that Group A Motoring makes an FRP Mazdaspeed replica.

As far as I know, Shine doesn't make an RE AD9 replica, and I'm not aware of anyone who does make one where the fitment is really great (even the RE isn't supposed to be great, and don't even have rolled edges). The best fitment is supposed to be Shine's FEED replica (better than FEEDs), but I'd be suspect of that designs functionality. I've heard mixed reviews of Ronin's MAZDASPEED replica.

I have the SIEBON KS replica... its not an exact replica, as it has smaller vents and crisper edges, excellent quality carbon fiber and finishing, and fits fairly well—but far from OEM, Looks good on my car so long as I don't paint it... then the gaps would really show. If I painted it, I'd probably paint it a satin black to maintain the appearance of fitment. In terms of functionality, I can tell you that when stuff has leaked under the hood (oil catch can or coolant pressure cap), it's come out the vents and gotten on thew windshield, and I've seen streaks of oil on the back of the main vents. May actually create some stability at high speed by venting pressure at the front.

I've yet to see a CF hood that fits like OEM though.

The KS is what I am learning towards. So a few questions.
1. Would you purchase it again if you were to do it all over again?
2. Do you feel you have gained any benefit from the venting?
3. Could you please send me a few pics?? I would be in your debt!!!!

satin black is what I am painting the car, but was going to leave the hood cf

There's a pic here, and a few more within the thread including the pins I used:

https://www.rx7club.com/build-thread...059495/page11/

I think it helps, and I'd probably do the same thing given that the available options are the same. That said, I didn't leave it on until my stock hood got damaged by the alternator tension bolt working its way loose on nthe track. I wanted better fitment, so that I could paint it, but I'm not sure that exists without a bunch of work by your body shop.

Thanks for the link. Nice build. Yes I see the gaps, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I can imagine a satin black would help hide a bit better than the silver. Beautiful car and thanks for the help.

Looks really nice. I am not so interested in the feed as I do not think it will be as functional for what I am looking for compared to the KS or Mazdaspeed.
Look wise and fit it probably takes it though!

I may check with Ronin to see if they anticipate making a few more, assuming they still have the mold...

I happened upon a "Techno R" hood as part of a trade, it looked jank to me at first but it's grown on me (besides the hood pins I wish weren't there) and the car does seem to run a little cooler. It definitely cools down faster while parked and the vent is above the IC which eases heat soak. The fit is pretty good and my issues are due to previous damage.
Here is a cell phone pic:

Nice man. Yeah pins to me are kind of a necessary evil. I would imagine the vents on that gotta help.
Thanks for the input

An alternative to FG/CF would be to fit vents to your stock hood. Then you wouldn't have to worry about fitment, paint, or hood pins. There are lots of styles available out there, but picking the right one and cutting your hood up would be the challenge.

Since this is the discussion section...reminds me of way-back when a lot guys pulled the rubber seal on top of the firewall. And IIRC, some even shimmed up the back of the hood thinking it aided airflow. When in fact it’s high pressure back there and counter-productive.
