Did anything ever get completed with respect to this list?
I built a website a year ago. www.rx7fdregistry.com
I haven't done much to it in awhile. I need to spend a little bit of time on it.

Let me know what you think. I'd like to try to get more exposure to the site.
Cheers,
Shawn

I will add my information as I think this is awesome.
The last 3 of the VIN represent build number correct?
My last 3 are 129. MB base model, with added front r2 spoiler and Rear Spoiler. Vehicle has duel oil coolers, not sure if 1st or 2nd owner added. Also lowered with R2 like springs.
Ill have to look at production date when I get the car back.

If I recall MB was the lowest production in 95.
built 4/24/1995 and sold new 8/27/1996 at Boston Mazda
I recall the 2nd owner informing me that car came from the east cost. Interesting to see that the car sold in 96.
Thanks for the info.
Mazda did an interesting thing, when they figured out that there was not going to be a 1996 model in the US, they then ran a second batch of 1995's.
i remember it seeming like things sucked, because there were new FD's on the lot until almost 1997, and it must have pissed a bunch of dealers off. however they meant to do it, and the cars in the second batch, which were made in December of 1995 would not have even arrived in the US until the end of February of 1996
I currently have Vin 191 Says 8/21/95 vehicle manufactured and shipped to dealer.
Looks like it was at an auction 10/25/95 in Maryland, then first registered 11/14/96 in Maryland
My 1st FD that my friend now owns is vin 342 Says 5/8/1996 vehicle manufactured and shipped to dealer. I checked this vin before I think it was manufactured third week of December 1995. Car was first sold 9/30/1996 in Chicago. This car got stolen from its origional owner in 1999 then sold at Auction then I got it from the guy who bought it at the auction.
Neat thread! I've got 197, the door jam says it was manufactured 04/1995. Throughout the 3 previous owners, the window sticker has travelled with the car, indicating it was sold new in Shingle Springs CA at a dealership called Honey Mazda. It sadly doesn't look like that dealer is around anymore.
161 was built 4/25/1995, its Montego Blue,
at Almaden Mazda it was sold new
its one of few? you have two?
Yes, I just bought VIN 161 last week locally in TN. It has a weird history. Car is overall really clean but was sold to a junk yard in CA around 2012 after failing emissions. They never parted it but only removed the passenger airbag(still included it) and did not sell with the title. Its going to have a sad fate in my hands as I steal a few parts I need for my 94 R2 and then do a complete part out. It is possible to get a title for it but sadly its worth more in pieces than complete.

that is kind of sad, although in my head the car is perfect except for the airbag and emissions test, but it probably isn't

Its not pristine but it is in better shape than the majority of FDs I encounter. It has some sun fading on a few interior panels but the paint, interior and car as a whole is very nice. This is only the second time I have ever parted a FD fully. The first was a 94 CW PEP that hit a telephone pole a week after I sold it to a customer.

I've tried to add mine when you first posted the site and again just now, but it will never accept my vin. I don't know if it has anything to do with all the zeros or if im doing something wrong but #74 just doesn't want to be on your list. Also I think you should have an "N/A" option on the miles for people who don't know since the odometer stop years before they had the vehicle.
Hi guys,
In case the info helps anyone, my 1993 Touring had a warranty engine replacement in mid Sept 1995. A blue + silver metal part #/serial # plate is mounted to the top right of the front cover about 4" below the front engine hanger mount point. The model # is
J--N3A1 -52 and the serial number is
JA-YYYY M/DD, with YYYY M/DD being date of manufacture or completion, I suspect.
The serial # date is about a 1/2 yr before the warranty shortblock replacement date.
The serial# would be blocked by the plastic pressure tank and so, at a minimum, the AC/PS mount plate and PS belt would have to come off to see it.
On 99+ shortblocks, the serial # is stamped into the front cover, right below the 2 front engine hanger bolts, so access a bit easier .
I've attached edited pics of 95-99 #'s below...
Bring Long's book, Page 157. In addition to the ABS change, the suspension was changed on the non-R2 cars. Details are in the book.
In the JDM summation parts catalogue for the full version 3 run, there are lots of tweaks to various parts. The catalogue sets out at which (JDM) VIN number these changes to a parts were made. Whether any those changes would have migrated into '95 USDM production, it may be hard to tell.
