Where to get an engine?
Hello all. I am finally getting an rx7. weeee... Anyway, it is without an engine.
I am wondering, where is the best place to get a full engine, I am going to stick with the TT's for now, to save a little cash, so I'm wondering where to pick up a full "crate" engine. Also, would it be overkill to get a haltech with this setup, I am thinking single turbo down the road, and want to acquire as many parts as possible, so I am thinking get the best stuff now, and just get the turbo + tunning later. Any thoughts/ideas. thanks..... I dunno if any of you guys saw it or not, it was on ebay. It's the black R1, that has been gutted, with the cage etc... this rx7 will see some track time

If you're just going to get one shipped in from somewhere, look into KD Rotary...http://www.kdrotary.com/...they do excellent work and everyone on this forum that had work done there was VERY pleased with the outcome. If you're looking into somewhere closer to you, look into places in Cali., but I think KD Rotary is one of the best places to go. Some type of upgraded computer system is a MUST for a high-powered FD. Getting the Haltech system now would be a great idea as well as bigger fuel injectors/fuel pump now because it looks like you will need them sooner or later since you plan on creating a speedy beast of a car. If you get your engine ported in any way too, the fuel stuff mentioned above and the new computer have to be put in as well or you will run rough/slower than stock because the engine is not getting enough fuel. So, with all of that said, plan to have at least $7000 sitting around if you don't do any of the work yourself. Good luck dude.
