If you do your midpipe....get the computer.

either upgrade your ecu (www.gforceengineering.com) and get a manual boost controller (home depot-the cheapest way) or get a good computer like the PFC and smile all the way home.

either way you will be smiling...but the apex is worth the money in the long run...if you can do it...do it....I upgraded my ecu...I wish I had the apex...though I really like what the gforce did to my performance.
___________

I agree...lets race!!

truth be told

heh...i'd like to see this race, lemme know when you guys run. I've seen Jason run his 7, and it's fairly quick. You guys would probably be about even. 1QK7 has the benefit of a large IC and better flow characteristics of the Efini Y-pipe and cooled charge temps of the FMIC. Jason's streetport offers his car some great high end pick up, albeit some minor lag during take off. It's probably safe to say that both will run 13 flat consistently, with a possibility of getting into the high 12's depending on other factors such as tires/suspension, weather, weight, and all that other good stuff. It was definately enough to hang with a supercharged C5 by a carlength. I say let the dyno do the talking first, and then race second. Braggin rights, third

Im picking up and installing my first stage of upgrades... A'pexi Super Intake, and A'pexi GT Exhaust. With some fuzzy math i'm figuring 25 extra horsies at the flywheel

next on the list... PFC, Efini Y-Pipe, DP, underdrive pulleys and some good ole tuning @ XS

I'm going all A'pex with the exception of the T-78...im unsure of the IHI Turbo at the moment....one things for sure, I'll be seein you guys in SD

hmm....

Ill beat mr fancy paint (Im really just jealous as Id love to have a new paint job) go ahead and put your money down.

that vette runs 12.1 at 121mph

not to mention my car ran like ***** that night...it will be on its full legs this weekend...no more missed shifts now that my tranny is fixed...no more vacuum leak either.

will try to pick up the Nittos on thursday. that should help take care of my "tires not hooking up" problem....and thus some of the low end lag as well. I wont have to wait as for them to hook up before gunning it.

in response to Mikes post...send me an email with your tel #. Ill call you when we go down...probably will go down on Saturday...and over to the races in OC on Friday.

laters

Re: What more is it going to take for me to get into the 11's HELP????

With your mods you could run a low 12 with some slicks. Without them you just wouldn't be anwhere close to that. From a LOW 12 to a high 11 you will have to do some big mods like injectors, fuel pump, ignition upgrade, and run some major boost. I ran a 12.78 at only 12psi on street tires. If I got slicks I could do a 12.3-12.4. With 15psi I think I could get high 11's

I have never had my car timed but I think I am probably running low 12's right now with this set up? What do you guys think? My goal is to have a reliable car that will run in the 11's. My engine has about 4000 miles since my rebuild. Turbos also brand new. Is there anything I can have done to stock turbos to put out more HP i dont want to go single and I dont want to lay down the cash for totally new turbos sinc I just dropped almost $2500.00 on these. Let me no what's up and what its gonna take.

thanks Guys

Nice mods! Your car is a helluva lot faster than mine but you are nowhere NEAR 360 rwhp. Midpipe+street port engine +higher boost will get you there.

Ok guys calm down Getting into the 11's isn't easy and a streetport is a needed part of this equation. It just complements all of your other mods like it will add 7-10 hp to your intake and 10-20 to your exhaust depending on how open it is. It usually nets around 25 rwhp throughout the powerband. A decent intercooler is another must. Running 13-15 lbs through that tiny stock ic will only get you a few more races and then eventually .... Detonation happens alot with people trying to get into the 12's or 11's the improper way. Get rid of the stock cat and either go with a hi-flo or midpipe. A midpipe will get you 10-15 more hp but it will smell awful, be louder than anything, and is hard to tune and control boost spikes especially on colder days. A fuel pump is needed and if you want to turn the boost up you also need a fuel pressure reg. and larger injectors. The original poster of this thread probably has around 300 rwhp so that would be an 85 hp increase over stock - and around 345-360 bhp - not anything to knock. Here's a shopping list to get into 11's:

Have your engine street-ported (expensive but helps all your other mods perform better)
fuel-pump
fuel-pressure regulator
hi-flo cat or midpipe
injectors
flywheel - revs much quicker than stock
boost controller - (if you go with midpipe)
have you turbos upgraded (not needed but does add around 25 rwhp)
clutch - stock one slips bad
upgrade radiator (keep things cool)

This should put you into the 11's running at around 14 psi. But if you want 11's out of an FD - you'd better do it right or you'll just have to start over with new motor

Guys... True Hp...for 11 sec times...

Well enough quarling... To get your seven into 11's:
You need to run a baseine 1/4 test... If you are running 110-114
mph. you'll have enough Hp to get into the low 12's... With the
correct traction...I've ran 12.15 @ 113.9 mph.
But if you're running 115-120 mph. You already there. Your MPH will tell you if you have enough HP to get into the 11's...

The Hole shot is most important thing here... ie: 60' ft times...
There's nothing like launching at 6500 - 7000 rpm w/M and H
Drag radials. "What a rush"! I have heard the m/t have a better drag radial...

If you're a great driver you might be able to get your car into the low 12's without drag radials: Like Nick Reifner, Klye Kruilik.

But you need the Drag radial to be more consistant... Some has already replied "Every 1/10 you shave off your 60 ft. you shave off 2/10 on your e/t's... this is totally true...

I've just added a street port w/3mm seals... can't wait to see my MPH thru the traps...

Oh yeah... if you're planning on drag racing lotts... get the KAZZ rear end... I plan to get one early next year...

Best wishes.... May the Boost be with you...!

I tried drag racing once just after I broke in my new motor. These were the mods I had then:
Street Port
3mm apex Seals
Chrommoly flywheel
Power Pulley
Pettit CAI
Trust Cat-back
Apex S-AFC
HKS EVC-III (not fully calibrated at the time)

I had the M2 toe links at the time...I now have the trailing arms as well. Anyhow...my experience with drag racing was traumatizing. The diff couldn't take the power I put through it on a bad launch and it gave way. At first I thought the loud bang was my motor blowing....*wheeeeeeew*...it wasn't. Needless to say I have a Kaaz now. But no more drag racing for me. I prefer the Torsen diff for smoothness. The Kaaz is a bit aggressive at times. Oh, the 4.30 final drive is sweeeeeeeet. I had that put in when I had the rear end re-done. Don't ask about my E.T.s. They were terrible. First time drag racing, bad technique, blown rear end...no more...no more. Let's all go on a Skyline tour, eh?
