Talking clutch !!!Help

Hey fellow rx7 fans! I am in the market for a new clutch. I just went thru a M2 clutch and was wondering what type you( FD owner ) are using and if you are happy with it. Please let me know. Oh by the way, can you just replace the disc, since thats wants wearing out??? Low on doe!! I've looked all over the internet and it seems that they all sell the disc and plate as a package, Is this the way to go when replacing the clutch??!!! I like the feel of M2's plate ( +15%) Just need the disc. I am producing about 350 at the flywheel, maybe I need a better plate as well. I was also thinking about getting their +22% HD clutch. Please give your oppinion. I looked at RX7.com and man!! they are expensive!! Same with PFS and Racing Beat. Act is selling their package at $585 , I don't know which one to get.

This is my daily driver so I don't want a "on and off" characteristic!!!. Wear is very important so is grip. I greatly appreciate your input!!! Please!!!!

As far as just getting a new disc, I'm not too sure. It would depend on the condition of the pressure plate. I wanna say No, dont do it. You would think that the used pressure plate's surface area would need to be nice and new for the clutch to work well. It would be like changing your brake pads with out re-surfacing your worn rotors.

As far as a good clutch recomendation; I too have a daily driver with about 350 at the fly wheel and i HATE clutches that are ON / OFF.....this is what I've been threw:

My Original clutch was getting worn, and i already had some power mods, so i decided i wanted an upgraded clutch. As per someones (poor) recomendation, i went with a Racing Beat Steet Strip clutch and kept the stock Flywheel and everything else the same. I hated it! It was totally On / Off. Maybe if i were more into drag racing (like 100% into) i would have lived with it. Luckly my trans was making some small bearing sounds, which helped me justify changing the clutch out a month later for the need of a minor tranny rebuild. So then I went back to a stock clutch since i hated the street / strip one so much. Unfortunitly, after several months the stock one began to slip frequently probably since i had added more power enhancements. Knowing that all aftermarket cluthes are'nt the same, i decided to go for it again.

This time I went with a M2 flywheel (9.5lbs), a Bönez Street-Comp Clutch (w/ pressure plate) from Rx-7.com, then i also changed to a Braided Stainless Steel Clutch Hose, and i changed my brake / clutch fluid to Motul 600 Dot 4.

I'm not sure if it was the combination of all those last changes or just the clutch it self, but I am now finally happy with my clutch. It has great feel and proportioning, and the grip is awsome. It is a great all around clutch. Oh and, I drive my 7 hard, it sees redline almost everyday, and not a day goes by that i dont get to the second turbo.

Hope this helps.

For your HP range, the Center Force Dual Friction(CFDF) or ACT
street/strip are good choices. Never think cheap with a car, it will usually cost more in the long run! Do not just buy a new disc.
When changing the clutch, you should also change the throw out and needle bearings at the same time.

Also is a good time to inspect the rear e-shaft seal for posible
oil leakage. Check the clutch lines also for wear/cracking/leaking.

I have a new unused CFDF for $450.

Thanks

Is the center force clutch that is for sale , comes with everything. i.e. throw out bearing, tool, etc., that I'll need for a complete install?

Thank you for your time and input , to both of you.

If anyone would like to add... What about brake pads. I am also in need of some new one! I just went thru M2 's performance set.
They seem to be pretty harsh on my front drilled rotors and get too dusky for my taste , but liveable.

Please let me know want kind you have used before with good results. Thanks.
