Sounds like a good one, jump on that puppy.

Seriously, it sounds like the kind of 7 most people are looking for.
The Kelley Blue Book retail price of that car (in my zip code) is
$17,610, so $16,500 sounds like a decent price.

My guess is that sports cars may be slow movers in your area
(hard to drive in winter) and they may have dropped the price 'cause this one ain't sellin'. Just for ha-ha's I'd offer him
16.2. I bet he drops the price a bit. I never had to pay asking price for a car yet. People (and dealer's too) always set the asking price higher than what they actually expect to get.

Good luck. Let us know what happens, and show us photos.

I think the price is a little high for a 93, even with low mi and good condition. Any dealer should be able to mark down $2k so if you can get it for about $14.5k, I would pick it up in a NY minute. BTW, dealers make more on used cars -- there is usually a $5k spread btwn their buy and sell price. Try to get that down to $3k.

In the present market and economy, you should be able to swing a good deal. Have a great time!

Also don't forget to take it to a rotary specialist for a checkup and some long test drives at different times of the day, especially when the weather is hot and also during a cold start. Look for blue smoke 15 secs after the startup since that can indicate a motor going bad. Little smoke on initial start up is normal.

I agree with djantlive, it is a little bit on the high side for a 93, even if it's in great condition. Get a little bit knocked off, and grab it...but even if they wont I'd still get it cause it's hard to find a good conditioned one. Think about it this way: the more u get knocked off that price...the more you can have for mods, etc

The Book value is a little less but the book is an average of what most 8 year old 3rd gens are worth. If this is a collector car that you can eat off of I would say it should bring a little more so that price is definately in the ball park. Also a 6 month warrenty sounds great. Just make sure all the important **** is covered and that there isnt some crazy deductable on it either.

sounds like a great deal just look at the responses! people are just too harsh on the '93's, especially this late in the game it's almost like adding insult to injury and only hurts the overall reputation of the FD. whatever, good luck and enjoy the car if you get it.

proud owner of troublefree '93, 73k miles and counting

(well, ok, the sunroof sticks sometimes )

I just don't want to be spending that much of my disposable income on a car.
Ok, so why were you looking at an FD in the first place? You could have whittled him down, extended the warranty to a year, etc. etc. if you REALLY wanted it. Looks like you may have missed out on a deal. Car collectors are ****, trust me. Hope it wasn't because of these jokers who are just busting yer ***** in jest. In hindsight I would never go into an FD purchase without 20k banked, keeping that several thou in reserve. You mentioned it being a daily driver for you as well. With 54k and being in PA, that won't really cut it year-round. Best of Luck and I hope this cherry car finds a caring home.

PM me the VIN and we'll work on it if you're still Jonesing for the car, though. Hear the RX-7 Siren song?

This guy is either misfortunate or stupid. Or maybe a very sneaky used car salesperson?
