I don't think thats the final paint. Something has to be done to it I think to make it stop looking like a matchbox car.

supernaut, what do they have left to do? When I took my car to get painted, they took it all apart to paint it.

I think they did. They told me they paint the hood and then bring all the pieces to the hood and color match it or something. I could be wrong. I do have terrible ADD and I tend to tune out...

LETS RIDE BIKES!!11!

In all seriousness, I'm not to sure. I dont think thats the final paint to. They are definitely taking it apart to install the side markers on the front fenders so maybe they do the final matching then? I'd really like to hear from some paint experts. I know they took alot of it apart to do some body work on it. Like I said in a previous post a while back, it had alot of bondo on it. Someone in California is a bondo master. I bet he could have built a whole FD with just bondo.

Ahh I see. Thanks man. I'll google colorsanding and buffing to see how it affects the final paint.

The guy who painted mines told me it would look better if they took it apart. Here is some pics (not the greatest, but you get an idea) from mines before and after:

Woah...
Thats awesome. We will have to see. Im guessing he will take at least some of it apart since he does have to do the door jambs. I think he knows that if I don't get perfection he is going to get an earful. I'll have to wait and see. I definitely appreciate the info. I did see some parts of the car apart when it was in the oven. This is actually the first time I've seen the doors attached to the car in a while.

Haha that makes two of us! Best to have it done right the first time! I'd like to see the pics of the end result. Color looks awesome by the way.

No it is not. Its titanium grey metallic from the Spirit R! Thats kind of the whole reason Im doing all this. I always wanted to drive a spirit R but since I cant move to Japan or import one, Im doing the next best thing, which is spending the money that could have been used to buy a spirit R in Japan to build one up here. 2 words... EPIC FAIL.

Is that what fresh chaste white looks like or is that a different color white? I'm asking because my car looks exactly like your door does.

Both are repainted Mazda Chaste White, but at different times. I suspect the guy that mixed the colour to the doors and roof was drunk...
