So this weekend was a little dissapointing for a few of us (local car club drag day). Ignition problems, blown motors, blown diffs and well.......in my case, not even making it to the track.
My car really let go on me around a 35km corner on a natorious local mountain road and ended up backwards heading down the cliff.
Its an understatment to say that it scared the LIVING **** outa me, knowing how deep that gully is. Someone upstaris must have needed me for something else, because the car was stoped about 2m before the drop off - and the end of myself and a friend for sure.
Now RX7s are unpredictable at times in the dry, predictably dangerous in the wet and......as I have now found out, a death trap when it comes to oil on a road.
The bend was a tight left hander and the right rear wheel (with all the weight on it) hit this:

The car went from having HEEPS or grip in the rear while coasting round the corner, to being 270 degrees around on itself, going through a fence and reversing down the bank, ending up here:

After myself and the passenger walked away with nothing more then shaky nerves I'm stuck between feeling like the luckiest, happiest person to have both been alive after leaving that hill road on the down hill side, and looking at the state of my pride and joy looking a little .........ill! See below:

So what now......... Im looking at this as a good thing. I hit that oil, crashed, walked away with nothing more then material possesions being harmed and cleened up the oil, preventing something that could have ended a lot worse.
Learn to expect even the most unpredictible to happen on **** quallity roads and enjoy everyday!
Now what with the car???........... Its not actully THAT bad. I got a good look under it when they draged it out and on a hoist at the impound and there is no damage to the chassis, sills, any of the under body, there is not a scratch on the new wheels
, the car sits fine, rolls fine, runs fine, no leaks, EVERYTHING to do with the motor (including cooler and radiator) are untouched.
The body looks like its been through a cheese grater. Every pannel is scratched by the fence wire. Both bumpers, both front gards, whole kit, and left rear light are fucked, mirrors are gone, windscreen is smashed, and rear quarters are a bit bashed but thats about it.
The whole car would be back to its former glory with a mear wide body kit (gets rit of the need to fix the rear gards), paint and a windscreen.
The phone call to the insurers tomorrow will be interesting. If they decide to write it off, im just going to scrap the claim and take the car back and pay to fix it myself.
So watch this space, a new project begins!!! Onwards and upwards I say!

I've been to a bad motorcycle accident. I could careless about the bike. I replaced it with a better one.
I'm liking this Ducati Desmosedici
Ducati Desmosedici and also this HellCat
I wouldn't really care if I crash my car like that as long as nobody gets hurt.
Exactly guys, Cars expendable. Im counting my lucky stars for sure!!!
Watch this space. That hunk of mangled metal will be back!!!! along with me and my friend!!!!
Just goes to show that ANYTHING can happen on public roads.

Yeah TURSTY, good to know you and your friend made it out alright, and actually even the body of the car doesn't look all that bad. The fenders could have been mashed in completely. Have fun with the project and good luck on a fat insurance check to cover that wide body haha.
hey just for the person who asked about the blue modified engine. Its actually for sale in Mie Prefecture in Japan.
The turbos are a HKS GT-3037 set. Makes 700ps +
Heres some more pics, its not a street car! Its on yahoo auctions.
