Question Parts Everywhere - what next?

I have been in search of a mysterious oil leak that gushes 1qt every 100 miles. The leak looks like it originates behind the the lower central pulley wheel --- but oh no, theres nothing back there to leak. Or that is what I have found since I have removed everything under the hood except the rotors themselves. So, now that my garage looks like the local auto parts store, and my RX-7 looks like a theft recovery - does anyone have any advice on where the oil is comming from? It is on the drivers side, below the oil filler neck, but around that area. I did but gasket maker around the oil filler neck and two weeks later the problem intensified. I must have just pissed MR. OIL LEAK off with the new gasket.

ALSO, since I have dismantled everthing in the engine bay, what should I take apart while I am there. I have ordered vacuum lines and a downpipe, any other suggestions?

I haven't checked that yet, but I will go ahead and replace them while everything is apart. The oil seems to be running down the front center portion of the engine, but I can't find where it originates from. Is it possible that the two hoses that connect to the filler neck are pouring oil out onto the front of the engine? I can't tell cause oil is everywhere.

Thanks for Tip,
Dustin

Yes there is -- the two oil injector lines. I had to remove these when taking out my water pump. They're those small clear plastic lines that attach to the motor with banjo bolts/screws. It's hard to describe, but you'll know them if you see them. They kind of wrap around the water pump, which is right in the center front of the engine. If those lines start leaking, then I wouldn't be surprised to see oil in the that area of the engine.

Oil Leak

I agree I would definately check those oil metering lines exspecially if the engine has been replaced.

CheezeFrog and Fritz Flynn,

Thanks for the advice, I never would have known that those were oil lines. I thought they were wires wrapped in cloth loom. I think it is leaking oil right where the lines are clamped to the water pump. Once again, THANKS!!!

Also, while dismantling the car I have found the following numbers stamped in various places. Do you think the engine may have been replaced?

Water pump has 5/98 stamped beside either the serial or model number, I cant remember which.

Oil Pan has yellow 92 painted on the bottom

Engine (on the left and right of oil filler neck) JB 4 96, and RK 97

Wishful thinking, I guess.
