Sorry, these are the only links I can recover for now, that sucks (My netscape crashed)!

Click Link -> Oil and Oil filters 101 (K&N and Mobil-1)

Click Link -> Motor oil bible (has synthetic in rotary's chapter)

Click Link -> More than you wanted to know.

Amsoil better than Mobil-1 and Royal Purple better than Amsoil? OK, what about Royal Purple vs Red Line?

Speaking of synthetic, folks... I switched to Mobil 1 recently.. I have to say that I have never seen the gas gauge go down so slowly in this car before. I have my regular random driving habits, and the gas just seems to last a little longer.. Usually after 150 miles the gauge would be below half, but it's sitting just above. WOOHOO!!!!!

Where did you find the info to back this statement up? I have been an Amsoil follower for 20 years. Don't be dissen the Amsoil.

I know Amsoil is better than Mobil one, but I have never seen a 4 ball wear test on the other lubes. (or similar test )

As often as most of the FD owners change there oil Valoline racing is good enough for the motor. The turbo's will benefit the most from synthetics.

^ I can't remember. If it's not in one of those links then it was in one of the links I lost. I spent days net surfing and when I posted the original thread, it crashed and I lost the links. I lost the enthusiasm to search again.

My recommendations:

dyno juice--Valvoline VR1 Racing 20w50 in warmer climates, pick your choice 10w30 in extreme cold climate

Synthetic--Amsoil 20w50 2000 Racing in warmr climates, Amsoil 10w30 in extreme cold climates. I've run Mobil1 before for ~15k miles with no issues. I don't think you can go wrong with Royal Purple or Redline, either.
