Question ice in the innercooler duct??

Met up with someone today, actually he just saw my car and we started talking (i believe it was blade7, if u see this message please email me, this is the guy from hops)

anyways he told me a trick, to put ice in the innercooler duct right before you race. anyone done this, any good results ? sounds kind funny but might help in cooling, specially with this heatwave.

I dont think it would do anything but block air flow which would probably hurt more than the ice will help(if it helps at all)

it would probably cool the temps a few degrees. You'll get maybe .5 hp gains from doing that. You're better off getting a Type R sticker which will give you 10 to the wheels. :p

Also, the main reason you wanna avoid doing that is because theres a chance you will suck up water, and as the ice melts, the condensate might find a way to travel into the engine

I tried that once at the track...but then it all fell out the front end...

Last time I was at the track there were these crazy mong (mung?) kids spraying everyone's intercoolers with a big azz bottle of NaaaaaS ;( so I had them cool me down a bit before I ran... and before track officials nearly killed them

I don't think it helped THAT much, but I always considered doing a similar setup on my car *just in case*. However, my concern is: What if it somehow sprays on belts or other things that don't like to be that cold...?

Oh well, peace.........
