Got a couple questions about mods... please read
OK, my 93 fd is bone stock. By the end of august, i wanna do exhaust, intake, and downpipe. I just dont wanna change the ecu or reprogram it. Will i have to?? Also, can i just do a combination of two??? My main concern is just getting rid of the pre-cat. So if i did exhaust and downpipe, i wanna do intake but that means i have to mess with the ecu so i dont run lean but i dont want to just yet. What do u guys think?? Also, what exhaust, intake, and downpipe do u suggest?? I just dont want my car to sound like a riced out honda

ahh man i was in your shoes not too long ago. i asked and asked that question but never got a "sure" reply. so i saved up and bought a power fc and all my mods at the same time. the only answers i would get were to do mods in clumps and not one at a time. sorry dude...i don't have the answer. but for the exhaust...i use a Thermal Research and Development exhaust...IT IS BIG, but it has the deepest sound in the world. non of that rice exhaust that sounds like you are pulling tin cans behind your car. and for the downpipe...i use m2's. it is fine...but it took about 800 millions years to get...and service SUCKED! they will never get my money again!

I ran an N-tech ceramic coated downpipe/PFS catback/RB intake duct + K&N filter in stock airbox (and a manual boost controller)setup for over a year and stock ecu with no problems. I think b/c the intake setup is still "kinda stock" that you'll be ok. Just keep the boost at 10#. And get a boost gauge/turbo timer/better thermostat/fan mod/temp gauge if you haven't already.
quick tip for cooling the car: pull the a/c fuse from under the hood (located in a box near the airbox/intercooler; on the cover it'll tell you which is the a/c fuse) then turn on the a/c w/the fans on high. Now you can drive around with the fans running to cool your motor. Bad thing is, the driver usually isn't kept cool

If I were you I would do the Downpipe and Air Box first, then wait until you can get a chip and do the ECU and CatBack together.
I know you probaly want to do the CatBack cause its a mod that looks cool, but you are better off doing the air box and dp first. Plus that will give you incentive to want to do the chip so you can do the CatBack.
There is no real problem with doing DP and CatBack first though and waiting on the box later after a chip.

I would probably do a dp and cat-back first (to take care of the sound). It seems to be list wisdom that you need to add an upgraded ecu after 3 mods, isn't it? Mebbe I'm wrong. =]
Get a modified a/f meter as well to make sure you're not running too lean. I got an automoter meter modified for full throttle so that the meter reads from .77 to .97 (I think?)
If you can, of course, just save up and get an upgraded ecu from m2 along with the intake...simple and effective.
