Faded Paint (pics)
The paint on my side view mirrors and rear spoiler is faded really bad. When they are wet, however, they shine and match the rest of the body. Is there anything I can do to them without getting them repainted?

paint
I hate to say , but your paint is gone. The clear coat is gone on the mirror and the wing. The best thing to do is get it painted and be merry. Forget the polish this, wax that philosphy. You 'll just end up painting it. Save the money and headache. You'll be happier with the new paint any ways.

Although repainting is the ultimate solution, you can make them look better in the meantime. First you need to remove the oxidation. Get a paint cleaner. I use Meguiar's. It works pretty well. The you need to use a polish. I hear Mother's has a new polish out that uses some new micro-encapsulation technology. This will put oils back into the paint. I'd give it a couple of coats of polish. Put it on, let it dry, wipe it off. Then cover the items with a wax. I use Meguair's Gold Class liquid. This stuff is outstanding.
If the items don't look faded when they're wet, then restoring
some gloss to them will help diminish your paint problem.
Be sure to have a good supply of soft rags. Buying all of the items I've mentioned above will cost you about $30. That's a hell of a lot cheaper and easier than having them repainted.

I'm not trying to be mean here, but your mirrors and spoiler look awful! I personally would go get them painted and get it over with. The most it could cost for paint and labor would be like $200-$250 maybe. You'll be VERY happy afterwards too, just like getting brand new mirrors and spoiler (at least it will look that way).
