I installed the RX-7 Fashion SS DP a few weeks ago. No problems at all a few of my studs backed outy which ended making it easier to put on. Just get the bolts on from the cat to the DP before you tighten it completely up to the turbo, mine were a few degrees off when completely tightened so i had to loosen it all up to bolts to line up. Other than that everything was fine. Exhaust is a little deeper now
and the turbos spool noticably faster

All DP are pretty much the same to install...pain in the butt. As long as you don't break any of the studs it's all pretty straight forward.
Lots of people get the HKS DP but i would recommend a US made one like Pettit or Farrel.
The reason is that Japanese DP are made for right hand drive cars and have to accomodate the steering. They all have a dip in the collector for extra space. Since US cars do not have this problem US DP can actually be made to flow better, 3" all they way out instead of crimped.

Thanks for the info guys....I was wondering why the HKS looked different from the M2 & Pettit...that sure explains it....I'll probably go w/ Pettit from the RX7 store to keep supporting the club....
Have you heard of any downsides to eliminating the AST instead of replacing it w/ the expensive aluminum one...I understand the aluminum one doesn't fit well w/ an aftermarket intercooler like I have (PFS)...so i was planning on going w the elimination kit from M2.....thanks for your comments.....

is the difference from the HKS to pettit considerable or no? i noticed the HKS is $90 cheaper. should i save the $90 and just deal with the small bend or spend the 90 and get the straight through pettit? just trying to get the most out of my money. any info is appreciated. Thanks

I have the petitt SS and i love it. The minute after i installed it i noticed the difference. The car spools up harder and faster. The pettit is known for the most straight with a less of a bend than HKS, thats why u pay the extra 90 dollars.

Hey! It's just a pipe!! How can the pettit and HKS be that different to install??? Is there really any significant difference in the install for these pipes???? I would think the HKS would be tougher since it's designed for the underbelly of a right side drive auto and we've got left side drives>>>> Please comment!!
go with the n-tech. Relatively cheap, stainless steel, 3" and direct bolt on done in about an hour.

downpipes are ALL the same! they ALL give the same performance gains. im sure the little dimple in the HKS dp doesn't rob more that half a horsepower, and that is if you are running straight 3 inch piping to the back of the car.
the reason that i dont like the HKS unit is because it is mild steel. just pay a little more and get lighter, better quality stainless steel, like ones from Pettit and M2.

He is refering to small jets that allows you to adjust the boost. As we all know once you start messing with exhaust there can be boost spike. They are easy to switch. The ones they gave me are holley jets. All you do is remove your intake and insert them into the line. They will send you a diagram for a better understanding. P.S. The Pettit downpipe works great for me.G...
I installed the RX-7 Fashion SS DP also.. PERFECT FIT.. no problems.. no frame rubbing!!
If you plan on goin single in the near future.. I'd get an aluminized DP.... I not.. definitely get the Stainless....
