Question Did my AST go bad?

What happens when your AST fails?

After I intalled my FMIC I was out on a drive and I stopped at Wedndy's for a bite to eat.....when I came back out, there was a puddle of coolant under my car, I checked all my connections and everything was fine......I just thought it was the overflow tank spilling extra, because I did fill th overflow(reserve) tank quite a bit....
But my temps were normal, although it feels hotter on some days more tha others? Sometimes the radiator is too hot to touch and other days you can touch it.....but I never really drive my car hard and I always have the fans running.....

Can a bad AST explode my car?

Yes a bad ast will do some serious damage if found too late, such as driving several miles spewing coolant.

Because you filled your overflow tank with too much coolant, there was nowhere else for the coolant to go when pressure built in the coolant system. This has happened to me before, and it will normalize. Just keep an eye on your coolant level to be safe.

theres no such thing as a half bad AST. its either working correctly, or its pouring out all of your coolant.
