cleaning the engine bay

How should I go about cleaning the engine bay? Can I just take a hose to that thing and start scrubbing? Heh, I haven't had the car too long so I don't know, it's so tight in the engine bay that I'm kind of afraid I'll screw something up by cleaning it.

think twice!!

I was told by a mechanic of rotaries that he has seen plenty of over aggressive washes cause major engine problems. I would talk to a few mechanics before I sprayed the holy grail with gunk sh*t.

I was more selective with my washing and took a rag with orange liq cleaning sh*t.
