Anyone have an ACT 6 puck w/Lightened FW?

I recently got to drive an FD with the ACT 6 puck clutch, and really liked it. It was however a little tough to get started smoothly from a start. I don't mind this though as my car is not a daily driver. I've heard that lightweight flywheels can contribute to problems off the line as well (not talking about all out launching, just a regular start from a light). So what I'm wondering is would a Lightweight Flywheel and ACT 6 puck combo be too much of a pain to drive. Any one have experience with this setup and care to comment? TIA.

an ACT 6 puck is overkill, unless you are constantly doing runs at the track and are pushing high HP. Yesterday I picked up my car from the shop after having the ACT Street/Strip disk and heavy duty pressure plate installed. pedal feel considerably stiffer, so I stalled twice just trying to pull my car out...the extra pressure and additional torque gained from the clutch takes a bit of time getting used to. Its been 160 miles and im loving it...once i'm done breaking it in, im gonna take the car to the mountain pass for some runs.

I suggest the Street/Strip Disc with heavy duty pressure plate (ZX3-HD00) since its good for up to 400 hp. I still have the stock flywheel...if I went with the 9.5 I think the car would be rather difficult to drive in traffic. If you upgrade to the 6 puck, you'll need to shift perfectly if you're gonna be doing some road courses-- theres no room for error. A poor shift might send too much power through the drivetrain and cause you to lose some control

As the ACT breaks in a bit and seats to the flywheel, it'll loosen up a LITTLE bit. But for grins, I'd measure your left calf for a "before" and "after" ACT pic - I'm guessing you gain about an inch of muscle from that damn clutch - I know I did when I had an ACT 2600 on my last DSM...

I went with the ACT Street/Strip and the 8.5# Flywheel.........
So far, everything is great! I don't run on the strip so I didn't need the extra grab.

I had that clutch on my car. It is overkill. The force of the clutch tore up my flywheel, differential bushings and even broke my PPF.

Oh yeah, if you want to buy a slightly used one, I'll sell cheap.

Thanks for the replies, I guess it's unanimous the 6 puck is overkill. I really liked driving it though, but it was only for a few minutes and I suppose it could get annoying over time. Does anyone have it and like it? The car is just a weekend plaything, and will never see a road course, it will however be taken down the 1/4 mile quite often. Dave at KD recommends the ACT street/strip with the stock Mazda disc, anyone have experience with that setup?

I sell about 10 clutches a week for the 3rd Gen and 9 out of 10 are the ACT Street/strip clutch ZX3-HD00. Everyone says they love it. I use it on my car and agree.

I have that clutch, its a pain in the *** in traffic but if your not its not that bad, it just takes some getting used to. You definetly dont have to worry about clutch slippage your either in gear or your out.
