hey all... ok, time to upgrade my stock fans on my FD, running altogether too hot for comfort here in houston still, and one of the stock fans doesn't work anyway... anyone recommend any good (and attractive for a dressed engine bay) aftermarket fans that i can bolt up to my fluidyne radiator w/ little hassle? i've seen some nice looking fans from a company called 'FAL', they are in summit racings' ads in turbo mag and come in colors... they are 12" units, and they list a dual fan unit (for integra 94-99), any chance one of these could be mated up w/ my FD? btw, i have a large FMIC based on a blitz core if that is an issue... thanks in advance for any tips or opinion, have a good one all!

You won't find anything better that what you have stock. If one of your stock fans doesn't work then you have a problem. When the car is fully warm on a warm day after driving remotly hard they should both be on. You can try aftermarket fans but most people you talk to will tell you there is not a good aftermarket replacement.

ive seen those fans on summit and always wanted them- if they spun at a higer rpm while less power to spin it, wouldnt it work better????

You need a fan(s) that will pull as much CFM as the stock fans do at a specific RPM and amp draw. Also you would need to build proper ducting for the fans to get the most efficiency. If you do go about this, I suggest an aftermarket temp gauge with the sending unit installed in the thermostat housing. This way you can read the accurate temps unlike the stock gauge that only gives you 3 temps (cold,normal, and new engine). I have had temps as high at 235 degrees and the stock needle never moved from the middle setting. Why take a chance with aftermarket fans? Unless you have a front mount intercooler, relocated battery, and aftermarket intake you will never see them.

thx for the replies, all... well, i've gone through three sets of stock fans in the last few years on my FD, i guess i just figured there has to be something better to try out there... since i went haltech i can use it to turn the fans on at whichever temp i want, but i was leery to plug in yet another set of the stock fans, i seem to remember seeing some show/race cars w/ different fans in them, but no idea what kind they were, or how effective...

3 sets of fans , do you ralley race without the hood or something? Under normal operating conditions those fans will last at least 5 years.
The stock fans have three operating speeds and at high speeds it will put out a hell of a lot of air flow. I have not seen an aftermarket fan that is capable of that much airflow. These fans were designed for a hot running engine. You are not going to find a better cooling fan then the stock ones.

thx for the info Threx... i couldn't tell you how i've gone through so many, but invariably one of them will fail and just sit there while the other spins... now again, the passenger side fan is dead once again, can i just pick up a replacement for it and swap w/ the bad one w/out pulling the whole assembly? changing out the whole assembly is such a b1tch that i was ready to go towards a more powerful aftermarket solution, but if there isn't one... i guess back to mazmax, anyone know if i can just switch the dead fan out, minimum of fuss?

wow 3 fans, how much does a motor cost anyway? i think if mines goes, i'm gonna dich the stock stuff and get a black magic with a verticle mount radiator. anyone know how much cfm the stock fans flow? the black magic one flows 1300 cfm.
