Oil metering pump (OMP) removal & gasket question ?

I can see that my OMP (oil metering pump) has an oil leak, and it is NOT from the oil-lines.

I know there is an O-ring gasket, which I assume seals the OMP to the engine.

Is there any other gasket that needs to be replaced ? Is there a rebuild-kit available ?

More importantly, can you remove the OMP with the engine in the car ? If so, what is the procedure ?

Thanks in advance,

:-) neil

Yes. It's an oval o-ring though so you have to use the Mazda part.

No other gaskets except for the crush washers where the oil metering tubes connect.

Yes, I just did it recently. If all you need to do is replace the o-ring there are 3 bolts that hold the OMP to the front cover. I removed the airbox, airpump and the actuators on the turbos to get room. You can get to the three mounting bolts from underneath but the upper rear one is a pain.

FWIW I had a leak I thought my be the pump and it turned out to be a front cover gasket that was leaking just above the OMP. If you see think the leak is the OMP itself check the front cover very thoroughly just above. Mine was blown out there and then oil ran down onto the OMP before heading down the right side of the motor under the turbos. I hope yours is the pump though, replacing the front cover gasket is very expensive.
