Question PFC and 3bar MAP sensor

Hi,

I have a PFC with a base map currently. I have my car booked in to have some 1000cc primary and 1600cc secondaries (along with other fuel upgrades) and also to install a GM 3bar MAP sensor.

Now, my tuner is saying that my base map will not need to be changed for these mods, but I was under the impression that the 3bar MAP sensor will "shift" my maps. Am I talking bollocks?

Thanks
Martin

Your tuner is right. The 3bar with proper settings on the PFC can use the stock maps, however, the stock p-rows are limitied to about 19 psi. These can be changed to run whatever boost you like.

you gotta install it right and change the settings for it to read right or you'll blow up your engine fast!

GM 3bar // Function // Rx7 Factory Wiring
A // GRND // Black/Grey
B // MAP SENSOR VOLTS // Greeen/Yellow
C // 5V // Brown/White

PFC MAP Sensor Settings:
scale: 41800
offset: 0

well I installed a new 3 bar map sensor.... if you weren't to change the settings using dataloggit, would it cause the car to idle all over the place...run for alittle while then completely shut off?

I don't even know if my dataloggit is working, the light comes on and i plug it to my laptop so I can change the PIM settings, but it wont read the current map that's in the car, plus if i change the settings, hit update and and what not, everything is still the same...is there any specific way to make sure your dataloggit is working, or any specific order you need to do things to get it to work?

What happens to the P side of the map when we install the 3bar map?

Do we need to rescale it? If i put the 6270 and 0 on option to and click option 2 without changing the Map reference would the car still run same as before?

Thanks

It may not run exactly the same. The Apex'i default scaling for the FD stock MAP sensor tends to read the manifold pressure a little bit low.

Thanks got it! was just confused at start but I understand now that when we enter the map calibration and offset i should theoretically read the same on the Map

The 41800 number is for the old Datalogit software that was specific to the FD. Divide that number by 6.66 and you will get the value for the current Universal FC-Edit software. So instead of 41800 you would use 6276. There are a couple different values floating around that people are using for the GM sensor.

38psi boost pressure would require a 4 bar MAP sensor, a custom MAP sensor calibration, and custom scaling of the P rows in the Power FC.

Because 1 bar of the 3 bar is used for vacuum, the remaining 2 bars are for boost
