Is your exhaust TOO loud?

I for sure as hell know my car is way too loud. So I'm going to replace the 2.5" Y pipe/Sebring exhausts with the stock Turbo II y-pipe and mufflers. Wouldn't this make a noticeable difference? I'm sure some of you guys think our cars are too loud when we open them up with headers etc.

Mine is so loud that it hurts your ears sometimes!
It sounds really cool when you go under an overpass!

I have gutted pre-cats, high flow cat, and pacesetter exhaust. It's tolerable. Not too loud and sounds great!

Here's what I'm gonna get; downpipe, stock main cat, single N1 exhaust. I think it should have a nice tone to it...

Thumbs up Love the Racing Beat

I have the full Racing Beat exhaust on my 87 NA and I think it sounds awesome. It admit it is loud but that's what put's a smile on my face . I have the header, presilencer.no cat's, and the RB mufflers. Still the stock intake I decided to keep that untill I get the cold air inlet headlight cover. However The NA's almost always will sound louder than the Turbo's. The turbo's some how muffle the sound a little bit compared to the NA's.

RB dual outlet header, dual straight pipes all the way to the mufflers. Loud? Hell yeah, but I love it.

I have only found one solution to get the right sound that I want from my exhaust. That was to just run a 3" pipe off the turbo, no mufflers or anything. I have wonderful memories of the day I did that. Obviously I reconnected the mufflers about 10mins later after driving around a bit before someone called the police. My plan is to get an external wastegate and vent that to the atmosphere. I think that that will give me the sound that I want when I am on boost but be quite enough for driving around the suburbs when off boost.

talking about exhausts

Well, mine isn't loud enough, and I stock everything, with leaks. So it's loud, but not nearly loud enough. by the way. I'm looking to get everything Apexi. Do they make downpipes and midpipes? I'll get their header and dual n1 cat back. I'll yank all the cats and probably strap a presilencer in there. I'm planning on this being my second mod to my car (after the mariah mode 6 spoiler). I know the whole exhuast thing will be a pretty penny. I'm willing to spend....

thats right, ive got my exhaust off (which used to have a cut out in place of Precat #1) so i can have a race pipe bent up, and run it to a j-spec Apex N1 set up (here in america, would be coming out the driver's side)

its SO freakin loud...but man, makes a HUUUUGGE diff, i gained about 10 HP!!!...it smokes the tires NOW, w/ No more wheel hop...

I have the single N1 its a little loud but its not obnoxious. It does tend to drone at hyway speeds after long periods. I think you 'll like it though.

RB: headers/pre-silencer + stock: Y-pipe/mufflers = not LOUD enough !

I will be looking to replace the Y-pipe back; with a single straight pipe, to a st. thru muffler. Then maybe it will shoot flames ?

Oh yea cant forget the flames

Im seriously thinking about getting a 3" pipe made for when I go racing just unbolt the normal exhaust slap in the pipe and go then swap it out again afterwards. i saw a 80-81 (?) blowing flames out at the 1/8th mile track I go to regularly its cool shocked the crap out of everyone when they found out there wasnt a spark plug back there.

lol c'mon it can't be that bad. I saw a pic you posted. Got some nice wheels. If you want a cheap good paint job, let me know - my dad did my car labor free. All I had to pay for was the paint, clear coat, and other small stuff. In total was $150. He usually charges $200 labor. If you'd like a nice clean paint job for cheap, then let me know. I'll have my dad do it.

Oh ya, one more thing. You'd be behind us in the pic, but on the highway we'd be behind you pretty soon
