Talking for you s5 guys get your temp guage to be alot more accurate! (check it out)

i i recently swapped my s4 guage cluster to an s5. my car is an 88 gxl with a swapped 91 engine, the temp sensor is from 88.

i also recently installed an aftermarket temp guage too.
ive found that unlike the stock s5 where the temp guage absolutly sucks, if you use the s4 sensor/probe/sender then it is more accurate than even an s4 guage.

heres the temp breakdown...

the guage starts at 100 degrees f.
1/4 guage is about 150 deg.
1/2 is right at 180 deg.
3/4 is 210 deg.
never saw above.

so i suggest that if youve got an s5, swap in the s4 sensor, the pair make a kick *** combo.

id like to get someone with an s5 engine on s5 electronice swap in the s4 guage to make sure it works this way, and my case isnt a fluke, but everytime the s5 guage would move my aftermarket one would reflect it.

try it and see

If you want an accurate temp gauge, buy a reputable aftermarket unit.

The stock gauges are far too unreliable. They are not worth the risk.

yeah but for those out there who dont want cant afford one and just use the stock cluster, this is much better for them, i will never go without at least 2 temp guages, ive been burned in the past

Senders are the same. They both ohm out at the same value at 176 degrees and any other given temperature.

The S5's three-step temp reading is a function of the gauge, not the sender. The senders are just a simple thermistor.

Nobody said it wasn't working. The point is you said this is more accurate because you used the S4 sensor. This is wrong, it's the same sensor. It's more accurate because you used the S4 gauge cluster. We already know the S4 gauge is more accurate so you haven't discovered anything new.

My bad, I misread your first post.

I still think what you're seeing is just the normal warm-up you'll see on an S5 gauge. It went up to half and stayed there right? The gauge is supposed to move slowly, but it still only has three readings.

that may be the case, ill watch it closely today, but it looked like after it warmed up it fluctuated with my aftermarket one almost perfectly. ill watch it today though
