Guys, can you help me flesh out this cheat sheet of the various engines and their key different traits?
This has been bugging me every time I hear someone remark something like "That must be an RE with a FC face plate" or "I see you're using a 13B rear housing in that 20B."
The mess of information that follows is probably full of errors as well as being incomplete. Fill in what you know and I will try to produce an up-to-date cheat sheet that we all (hopefully) can agree is accurate and correct.
Thanks in advance.
Engine - Model/Year - TRAIT
Kouki, FC, S4 86-88, Perpendicular Ports
Zenki, FC, S5 89-92, different that Kouki?
RE, ?, Bigger Ports Slanted
Cosmo, ?, Same as RE?
REW, ?, Smaller Ports Slanted
Hybrid Combos:
20B with 13B Housings
FC Front Place fits on...?
S5 UIM, LIM fits on S4?

any plate/housing/ front cover will fit on any 13b, as far as identifying goes, you just have to know what they look like. The easiest is the plates to ID; FC turbos and 74 and ealier 13b's have 4 small port runners, then comes FD with large 4 port runners, then the 13b-re (cosmo non 20b) which has 4 huge port runners.
6-port plates go: gsl-se plates have a smaller aux port then FC's, S4 and S% end plates are almost exactly the same (i think s5 secondarys have more oval runners then s4) but the center plate can be distinguished by it's lack of EGR in the S5
front covers: S4 has a mech OMP, s5 is electric, FD doesnt have a cas.
