Yet another N/A to TII Post...
Before you guys flame me, and tell me it would be cheaper just to buy a TII, I know it would be, but I cant find one, and I want to do this myself. So with that aside, here we go.
I recently purchased a Black 89 GTU non running condition with some dents and scratches in desperate need of a paint job for $500 from some guy who had it sitting in his front yard for the last few years with a tarp over it. I have it sitting in my back yard now, up on blocks. My plan is to totally strip it down of EVERYTHING. Everything in the engine and interior down to the last nut and bolt. Then im gonna prep it all and take it down to the auto body shop to get it painted. Well, while i've got everything out of it, would it be possible for me to convert it to a turbo II fairly easily since I've got it all apart already. What all is involved in doing this, and any idea on how much this would run me being that I can probably obtain a majority of the little parts from wrecking yards around my area. Keep in mind its not working anyway, so I'd have to replace a majority of the parts anyway. So would it be worth going the extra to make it a TII?
Thanks in advance for not flaming me!

I'll start the list:
Engine
Tranny
Driveshaft
Diff
Half shafts
Slave Cvlinder
Engine Wiring Harness
ECU (unless going with aftermarket)
Gauge Pod (if you desire stock boost gauge, redline is also 1000 RPM lower)
That's all I can think of right now.

What you need:
TII Engine (intercooler, injectors, etc)
TII ECU
TII Wiring Harness
TII Transmission (w/ flywheel, and clutch as both are bigger and stronger on a TII than a n/a)
TII Driveshaft
TII Differential
TII Fuel Pump
TII Hood
Gauges: Boost, Air/Fuel, Exhaust Temp
AND A LOT OF TIME AND $$$$$!
Good Luck!
BTW: Have you checked www.thepartstrader.com, or the For SAle part of the forum? I just found a running, but wrecked 89 TII that I am hopefully getting in the For Sale Area!

build up a series 5 N/A engine. They have 160hp stock. Think, no more premium gas, worrying about running lean, more reliable ;-)
Not as easy to get more HP, and you can't get even close as much hp
but its up to you.

dude:
go with an aftermarket computer, if not then you'll have to get evey sensor that matches the computer that you have. real pain in the ***, especialy when you consider how much like crap the stock system resembles.
