yet ANOTHER intake quiestion

I just started working on making an intake. First thing I noticed is that I have a "solenoid" I'll call it coming into the TID where it meets the AFM. Can this be removed, bypassed, or relocated to make installing a TID easier? Next thing is, I read that the Turbo takes a 2 3/8" hose, however I bought 2" rubber and it appears to slide on just fine. Right now it looks like I'm reducing the AFM from 3" to 2", then running PVC to the turbo (I might reduce right before the turbo and use 3" PVC if I have room.
The intake is the next project and I had my dad make up a flange for me for the 87TII's AFM to go into a hose. Now I've just gotta create the box to go around it and find a way to hook it all up. Don't think I have any questions on this, but if you have some suggestions I may not have thought of, feel free to toss them in.
The next thing (which I did first) was to remove the Air Pump. I have the pulley on the way, but I've noticed that after the removal, it idles low and rough on cold starts, and for a couple minutes after any start. Can I adjust that with the cold start adjustment, or would it still be rough for a couple minutes after starting warm?

That hose is the bleed from the boost control solenoid under the IC. It can be safely open-vented.
The turbo's inlet has a 60mm (~2 3/8") OD, so if your hose just slips on, its ID isn't 2".
Running 3" to the turbo and then reducing would be a bit better.
